Pokemon Pokopia‘s paid Bubbly Basin DLC is getting all the attention, as perhaps it should, but the accompanying free update for all players is making a major fix to ease some of the rough edges in-game. Of course, the new town, the new content, and the new Pokemon coming to Pokopia with Bubbly Basin are a big deal, but it shouldn’t overshadow the best new item coming as part of the free update.
To be perfectly clear, Pokemon Pokopia‘s Bubbly Basin DLC releases at 9 PM PT on August 4, 12 AM ET on August 5, and it brings with it a ton of new content: the Dive exploration mechanic, 3D underwater building mechanics, a new biome in an underwater town, and much more. That’s one thing. Alongside it is the release of a free content update, a completely second and separate thing. Every feature in Bubbly Basin is paid, but the free content update goes live for all Pokemon Pokopia players at the same time.
Pokopia Free Update Adds Major QoL Storage Feature
Pokemon Pokopia‘s free content update is adding a new storage chest to the game, a free update item, that fixes its biggest crafting issue. As many Pokopia players know, this beloved Pokemon life sim requires tons of items and crafting all across its map, and this can result in key crafting items being left in separate chests in completely different Pokopia biomes. Then players must undergo a Hero’s Journey to find said items, either in which chest they left it or again in the world, to complete whatever task lies before them. That’s a thing of the past, as reported by Famitsu.

According to Famitsu, the free update introduces a new “sharing device” storage option (likely in the form of a new chest) that can access shared items between them. In short, one of these chests can be placed in every base and biome, and kept in inventory to have quick, instant access to tons of items. Famitsu’s testing may not be exhaustive, but it reports that each device has a storage of 20 and that it was able to deploy 20 of them for a total of 140 storage slots in Pokopia. This, no doubt, made accessing various items much, much easier.
Plus, it can be crafted via the various recipes in Pokopia, letting players make more (presumably to a certain point). That makes crafting these items easier. It’s worth noting that they can also be placed on Pokopia’s Cloud Islands, but they can only access items within that Cloud Island. When deployed properly, it seems that these storage options will bring the aforementioned Hero’s Journey to an end.

Bubbly Basin and this free content update is the first major post-launch release for Pokopia, obviously not counting routine updates and events, and it’s clear that the developers are not holding back. Not to put the Ponyta before the Sharpedo, but that bodes well for Pokopia‘s future DLC and content updates as well. Bubbly Basin is just one stop in its future roadmap.
