Pokemon Pokopia is set to receive a special event to celebrate April Fools’ Day, with players able to earn an exclusive Sudowoodo decoration. The sandbox life simulation spin-off developed by Omega Force has been a smash hit with fans in the weeks following its debut, already breaking through some big milestones. Pokopia sold more than 2 million copies within just four days of the game’s launch and currently stands as the highest-rated Pokemon game of all time on Metacritic. The exciting new Pokemon game has also given early adopters some special limited-time events.
Pokopia‘s first official event rolled out shortly after the game’s debut, with the addition of More Spores for Hoppip. Players were tasked with collecting Cotton Spores while visiting Dream Islands in Pokopia, which could then be traded to Hoppip at the Pokemon Center for exclusive floral decorations. More Spores for Hoppip even featured some exclusive Pokemon for players to bring to their island in new habitats, with Hoppip joined by its two evolutions in Skiploom and Jumpluff. Now, another new event is set to roll out to celebrate April Fools’ Day.

While the event has yet to officially kick off, fans “time traveling” in Pokopia have already been able to confirm some important details. Changing the date and resetting Pokopia will cause the April Fools’ challenge to restart, even after obtaining the Sudowoodo, meaning that fans can acquire more than one of the decoration. Pokopia players have also used time traveling to discover how the quizzes will function, with each quiz-giver imitating a Pokemon and asking the player to guess the correct creature. The description of the challenge on the Pokemon Center’s PC confirms that the event will only run for one day, beginning at 5 AM local time on April 1 and ending with the next reset at the same time on April 2.
Pokopia‘s April Fools’ festivities could potentially serve as a precursor to plenty more holiday-themed events to come. The Pokemon spin-off will likely follow in the footsteps of similar games like Animal Crossing, offering seasonal celebrations with special cosmetics and decorations. Pokopia is also expected to add more large-scale events, like More Spores for Hoppip, in the future, introducing new Pokemon and habitats for players to discover. Pokopia‘s massive early success has even led to plenty of speculation about the future of the sandbox game, with fans theorizing about potential expansions to come.
While neither Omega Force nor the Pokemon Company has confirmed any DLC for Pokopia, fans have already begun to theorize about new additions to the game. Pokopia features plenty of references to the Kanto region from the past throughout the game, with the discovery of a note mentioning the Sevii Islands leading to fan theories that DLC based on the islands may be coming. Omega Force has also confirmed several fixes planned for Pokopia throughout the months following its launch, addressing numerous different bugs and quality-of-life adjustments. Pokopia has positioned itself as a must-buy title for the Switch 2, with future updates only expanding its appeal further.
