For April Fools’ Day, Pokemon Pokopia has decided to treat players to a free item, but they only have 24 hours to claim it. As a cozy game, Pokemon Pokopia offers many items and building materials to help players decorate their islands and create elaborate habitats for their Pokemon friends.

Released just last month, Pokemon Pokopia is already one of the most popular Switch 2 games to date, selling over 2.2 million copies worldwide in just four days. The main protagonist is a Ditto that transforms into a human trainer to help revive several islands and bring back Pokemon that inhabit them. The game makes many references to other Pokemon games and has items inspired by certain characters, like the newest Inflatable Sudowoodo.

On April 1, Pokemon Pokopia launched an April Fools’ event called the Copycat Challenge, in which Ditto has to talk to different Pokemon and guess who they’re trying to impersonate. After answering three of these questions correctly, players can claim an inflatable Sudowoodo as a prize, which is similar to a waving tube man. The catch is that players can only get this freebie until April 2, at 5 AM.

How to Get Inflatable Sudowoodo in Pokemon Pokopia

  1. Once the game is booted up, players should head towards a Pokémon Center PC to start the Copycat Challenge. This works for any Pokemon Center regardless of location.
  2. Wander around the island and interact with Pokemon with three-dot speech bubbles. Players need to talk to three Pokemon.
  3. The Pokemon will ask Ditto to guess who they’re impersonating. If they get three questions correct, they can claim the prize.
  4. Go back to the Pokemon Center PC and click complete on the “Correctly answer today’s special quizzes!” notification to claim the Inflatable Sudowoodo.
  5. To place the Inflatable Sudowoodo on the island, open Ditto’s inventory and select the item.

As of now, many avid Pokemon Pokopia players have already claimed their free Inflatable Sudowoodo, even taking photos of it next to an actual Sudowoodo. They could also make multiple copies of the Inflatable Sudowoodo by taking a photo of it and use the 3D Printer at a nearby Pokemon Center or the Treasure Island. Meanwhile, if players don’t have enough time to finish the April Fools’ event before 5 AM on April 2, they could reverse the clock on their Switch 2 to gain access to it again.

Pokemon Pokopia Future Updates

Although it’s still a new game, it’s already clear that Pokemon Pokopia will have more updates and events in the future. Pokopia recently rolled out version 1.0.2 to address a number of issues to make gameplay smoother. Players can also enjoy limited-time events, like the April Fools’ event and the Hoppip event, to acquire special rewards they can use on their islands. These updates will amp up Pokopia‘s playability even after players complete the main story.

There’s also speculation that Pokemon Pokopia‘s DLC might take place in Sevii Islands. The location, which consists of nine main islands and several islets, was first introduced in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen, and is known to be the home of a number of Mythical and Legendary Pokemon, such as Moltres, Lugia, Ho-oh, and Deoxys. Pokemon Pokopia players are able to befriend Moltres, Lugia, and Ho-oh, but Deoxys is still missing in the game. If Sevii Islands do open up in a future DLC, players could be given a chance to befriend the Mythical Gen 3 Pokemon and other new characters that might be hiding around the area. Developers Koei Tecmo and Game Freak have yet to confirm a Pokopia DLC and its possible release date, so fans will have to wait and see.
