Retailer Target has announced a collaboration with Pokemon for a range of new items going on sale soon, and included in the bunch is the return of Pokemon Pop-Tarts for the first time in 25 years.
Specifically, these are Pop-Tarts with the frosted vanilla cupcake flavor, featuring the legendary starter Pokemon Pikachu, Charmander, and Bulbasaur on the packaging. The Pop-Tarts come dusted with sprinkles meant to evoke the colors of those three creatures. They look very delicious.
The 12-pack of Pop-Tarts will go for $4 when it launches in stores on May 2 and online on May 3. Kellogg’s originally released Pokemon-themed Pop-Tarts in the early 2000s, as a tie-in for the Pokemon 2000 movie. There were only limited Pokemon Pop-Tart releases thereafter for other product tie-ins.
The Pokemon x Target collaboration includes more than 100 items exclusive to Target, celebrating Pokemon’s 30th anniversary this year. Some of the other items include all manner of Pokemon clothing, Pokemon kickballs, Pokemon fragrances, Pokemon detangling hair brushes, and Pokemon water bottles.
Not everything goes on sale at once, as the first wave of items–including the Pop-Tarts–will be available in stores on May 2 and online the next day, with a second wave of Pokemon items going on sale on June 6. You can visit Target’s website to see the 100+ Pokemon items in the sale and to find out which items go on sale when. Pokemon merchandise is known to be very popular, so if a certain item catches your eye, you’ll probably want to buy it right away.
The latest Pokemon game release was the fighting game Pokemon Champions, which came to Switch on April 8. The free game lets you take part in quick online battles with other Pokemon fans.
