The Hoenn Region’s Legendary Pokemon are iconic parts of the Gen 3 games, and now these powerful mons are making a comeback next year. With the Pokemon franchise celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, Game Freak and The Pokemon Company are pulling out all the stops with releases like Pokopia, FireRed and LeafGreen Switch ports, and the Pokemon TCG‘s 30th Celebration set. Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald seem to be next up with a 2027 release focusing on the games’ Legendary trio.
In the wake of Pokemon‘s 30th anniversary, all eyes are on the upcoming Pokemon Winds and Waves, announced back in February during the Pokemon Day Presents. Few official details have been shared about these games, but Winds and Waves leaks have given fans a glimpse of what the games will look like. While 2027 will mark the start of Pokemon Gen 10 with the release of Winds and Waves planned for late in the year, the Gen 3 games are getting some love in May with a trio of releases aimed at nostalgic fans of Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald.
New Pokemon Hoenn Release Confirmed for May 2027
Bandai Namco is re-releasing three Pokemon figures based on Hoenn’s Legendary trio of Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza next year. Pre-orders are currently open for these Pokemon figures via BigBadToyStore, with a shipping date of May 2027. These figures are part of Bandai Namco’s Pokemon Scale World line, which realizes Pokemon‘s most popular critters in 1/20 scale and were originally released back in 2021.

Fans interested in picking up one of these figures should be aware that the three are not priced equally. Groudon is the most expensive of the three Hoenn Legendary Pokemon, likely due to its greater mass compared to its counterparts. Kyogre is around $30 cheaper than Groudon, and Rayquaza is the cheapest of the three at about $20 less than Kyogre.

Each of these figures also require a non-refundable down payment that varies from $10.80 to $16.50, 10% of the figure’s full price. Purchasers will also have to consider the price’s inclusion of tariff surcharges on shipments to the US. Even with these additional fees, the trio of Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza look impressive in terms of quality, and are still reasonably priced compared to similar figures.
Of course, the rumors surrounding Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald ports for the Nintendo Switch are at the forefront of many fans’ minds after the official Japanese Pokemon Twitter account teased Ruby and Sapphire running on the Switch. While these releases haven’t been officially confirmed, leaks earlier this year showed that the emulators for Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen on the Switch were capable of running the other Gen 3 games, so it seems like a matter of when, not if, these games will come to the Switch. At the very least, Gen 3 fans can add some quality scale figures of the games’ Legendaries to their collection in the coming months.
