Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players can now officially get two of the rarest Pokemon in the game very easily, shiny hunt them, and get them with special Marks, but there’s a catch. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have been mostly in maintenance mode for quite some time now, especially since no new seasons were released for Gen 9 games and attention began to shift to Pokemon Winds and Waves in 2027 and Pokemon Champions for VGC. Now, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are getting some new, refreshing events, but it’s unclear how long this streak will last.

The new Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Summer 2026 events include a 7-Star Tera Raid dedicated to Magikarp the Unrivaled, which players can farm for rare items and a chance at catching the unique, iconic fish critter. In this case, the Magikarp from the Raid will always have the Mightiest Mark, which is only obtainable this way. Furthermore, there are Mass Outbreaks with Pokemon being more likely to have a rare Mark, including Dondozo, Tatsugiri, and Veluza from the base game. The DLC is where this becomes more interesting, but it also means owning the expansions.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Players Can Now Easily Get Shiny Basculin and Basculegion

One of the ongoing events is dedicated to White Stripe Basculin and Feebas in Kitakami, meaning players can now get Basculegion in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet extremely easily, get a shiny one, and possibly with a Mark. The same goes for Milotic. However, these Pokemon require ownership of The Teal Mask DLC to get. Both Feebas and White Stripe Basculin are extremely rare as Mass Outbreaks, and even changing the date on the Switch or Switch 2 countless times may never yield a Mass Outbreak for either critter. On top of that, White Stripe Basculin is only available in one specific spot, which is a lake-like location near the Timeless Woods. For this reason, most players who do have a Basculegion that’s shiny, Marked, or both have caught it in Pokemon Legends: Arceus or were very lucky in Kitakami.

Now, players can get both Feebas and White Stripe Basculin from guaranteed Mass Outbreaks daily up until August 6, 2026. If players want to partake in the event but don’t have time or luck is not on their side in the hunt for a shiny and/or Marked White Stripe Basculin or Feebas, the event can be “extended” even beyond its expiration date, provided that players don’t connect online after August 6. This is a one-of-a-kind chance to get these otherwise super rare Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and fans should go get theirs before August 6.

It’s also worth mentioning that Basculegion is one of the best Pokemon in Pokemon Champions, and Milotic is highly desirable as well due to its ability to counter Incineroar and other Intimidate Pokemon with Competitive. Additionally, Milotic is the only Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: Z-A that needs to be traded for in order to get it, so getting one in Scarlet and Violet can then be great to then transfer it via Home.

Feebas is more likely to appear with the Prideful Mark during the event, whereas White Stripe Basculin is more likely to have the Ferocious Mark. This only holds for the event-related Mass Outbreaks, which appear and change daily. To boost their odds, players can also use Sandwiches that make Marks more likely to appear, or even combine this with increased shiny odds to get one of the rarest Pokemon in the game. Then, Feebas needs to be traded to evolve into Milotic in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, whereas to get Basculegion, players need to make sure it’s capable of enduring 294 points of recoil damage without fainting, and then level it up.
