Pokemon TCG Pocket has revealed its next full expansion, Mega Shine, which will bring shiny versions of Mega Evolved Pokemon to the popular mobile card battling game for the first time ever. The Mega Shine expansion is set to hit Pokemon TCG Pocket at 6 p.m. PDT on March 25, so fans will want to prepare themselves for the upcoming arrival of a bunch of powerful new cards with special visual effects.

The arrival of Mega Evolution in Pokemon TCG Pocket was a game-changer when it first hit the mobile game near the end 2025. Mega EX cards easily feature some of the most powerful Pokemon in the entire game, typically sporting high HP stats and massive attacks that can wipe out a lot of other cards in a single hit. But they’re also a double-edged sword, as knocking out a Mega EX card grants a player three points, which is just enough to win a match without defeating ay other Pokemon.

A new trailer released for the game shows off 15 cards coming in the upcoming expansion, which is likely to be just a small fraction of the overall additions arriving in the list of new additions to the card roster. Fans of building strong Dark and Fire-type decks in Pokemon TCG Pocket are in for the biggest treat, as both regular and shiny versions of Mega Gengar EX and Mega Charizard X EX cards are among those that will be arriving soon. Mega Charizard X EX has 220 HP, and for three Fire energy, its Raging Blaze attack deals a base 100 damage, plus an additional 80 damage if its HP is down to half or less. Mega Gengar EX has a slightly less bulky 210 HP, and for three Dark and one general energy, its Labyrinth of Shadows attack hits for 120 damage and prevents opponents from playing trainer cards during their next turn.

As previously mentioned, both of these powerful new Mega Evolution cards will be available in both shiny and normal variations, but they’re far from the only new shiny Pokemon coming to Pokemon TCG Pocket. The trailer also reveals new shiny cards for Dragonair, Pineco, Ponyta, and Zorua, which means players can likely expect to see new cards introduced for the other Pokemon in those evolution lines as well.

In addition to finally giving players a counterpart to the Mega Charizard Y EX card that was introduced in December as part of Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s Crimson Blaze expansion, developer DeNa is hoping that the new shiny cards’ visual appeal will be pleasing to players. These shiny cards not only feature interesting color variations on classic Pokemon, but they also include visual elements that cause a shimmering effect as players tilt them on the screen.
