A Pokopia fan is sharing their stunning homage to one of Animal Crossing: New Horizons‘ most iconic locations, having built a Pokemon-themed version of Dodo Air. The Pokopia airport even comes complete with a biplane inspired by the design of Pelipper.
Pokopia‘s creative freedoms have inspired plenty of fans to craft stunning builds based on both real-world and iconic Pokemon locations. The life simulation game has seen a multitude of fans reimagine real-life businesses in their worlds, creating restaurants like Taco Bell and Olive Garden in Pokopia. Many have drawn from the rich history of the Pokemon franchise to recreate some of the most memorable locales from the main-series games, like Ecruteak City’s Bell Tower and even a scale recreation of the Kanto region from Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen. Now, a Pokopia fan is honoring another massively popular Nintendo life simulation game.

Nintendo confirms that some fans will be able to try Pokemon Pokopia’s Bubbly Basin expansion as part of an upcoming in-person event.
Pokopia Player Builds Homage to Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ Airport
Pokopia player Own-Entertainer-2622 shared their impressive Pokopia build on the game’s main subreddit. The images in the post showed a small sea-faring airport built on the shores of Bleak Beach, not far from the location of the S.S. Anne in Pokopia. The build included a small airport office on top of a dock with a seaplane modeled after Water/Flying Pokemon Pelipper parked atop the water behind it. The Pokopia airport featured a windmill placed on top of the office in order to provide power for the electrical devices inside, and makeshift propellers on the front and wings of the plane.

The impressive Pokopia creation was a hit with fans, both heaping praise on the project and offering some Animal Crossing humor. One fan joked about flying to the Pokopia island to sell off their turnips, referencing the limited-time and volatile market for selling turnips in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Another joked about the dialogue used when landing on another player’s island in New Horizons, which saw the pilot state that the plane will be making a water landing, which is fine because it’s a seaplane.
Pokopia has seen massive success on the Switch 2 since its launch in 2026, breaking records for the long-running monster-catching franchise. Pokopia released as the Pokemon franchise’s highest-rated game in its long history, beating 2013’s Pokemon Y to claim the prestigious honor. The game quickly became one of the best-selling games on the Switch 2, currently sitting as the third-best-selling game on the console and beating the Switch 2 Edition of Pokemon Legends: Z-A, despite Pokopia releasing five months later. Pokopia even held the title of highest-ranked game of 2026 for nearly two months before it was dethroned by Mixtape in May.
Pokopia‘s overwhelming popularity naturally led many fans to ask what’s next, with Omega Force confirming that DLC is on the way. Nintendo and Omega Force officially revealed the Pokopia Expansion Pass during the June Nintendo Direct, with three separate stages of DLC. Pokopia will add Bubbly Basin as its first new DLC village in August 2026, alongside a free update adding the Dive move, while later parts will add more new features and another village to the game. Pokopia looks to have plenty in store for its legions of fans in the near future, with a sizable amount of new content coming.
