A Pokemon Pokopia player chose a fan-favorite reference from the Pokemon anime’s English dub as the basis of their latest build, as they created a “jelly donut” house intended for Brock, the Pewter City Gym Leader. The Pokemon Pokopia house builder shared a short video clip of their handiwork on social media for all to see.

Pokemon Pokopia Player Makes a Jelly Donut House For Brock
While Pokemon Pokopia players have used their talents to build massive homes as Pokemon habitats, one player chose to make a clever home for one of the Pokemon franchise’s most popular characters. A Redditor named IncoherentLeftShoe shared a short video clip on the Pokopia subreddit of a “jelly donut shaped house” they made for Brock, the Pewter City Gym Leader. The home was built in the Rocky Ridges biome. The house was made using a mix of white and dark brown blocks, with a front door entrance. The jelly donut house had some fence posts, small stairs, and some flowers placed in front. The jelly donut home was placed next to a cottage with an orange roof, which added some variety to the neighborhood.
In short, the jelly donut home that IncoherentLeftShoe made was a reference to the original English dub of the Pokemon anime, which was handled by 4Kids Entertainment at the time. In episode 24 of Pokemon: Indigo League, titled “Primeape Goes Bananas,” Brock made a notable quip that jelly-filled donuts were among his favorite snacks. However, keen-eyed viewers pointed out that the jelly donuts in question were actually rice balls, or onigiri. Given that 4Kids had a reputation for making various changes to make anime dubs more appealing to Western audiences, Brock’s onigiri being called jelly donuts was one notable change in the English dub that has endured via memes made throughout the years.
Rocky Ridges Is Home To Some Impressive Houses
The jelly donut home in Pokemon Pokopia was made next to the museum. The museum can be accessed by either exploring around the Rocky Ridges, or by digging through a stone-covered mountain and mounds of volcanic ash to clear a path from the Pokemon Center to it. Given that Pokemon Pokopia players can dig their way to the Rocky Ridges museum, the latter option can also lead to future homes being made on the cleared-out land.
