PlayStation Plus‘ Essential tier (oftentimes known as the free game tier) has announced not one, not two, not three, but four new games on September 1, adding even more playable games to an otherwise packed line-up. PS Plus Extra has already confirmed Runescape: DragonWilds as a day one game, for example, but also September has a ton of paid, premium games releasing. Between those and these new PS Plus games, PS4 and PS5 owners have plenty to keep them entertained.
As always, PS Plus subscribers still have some time to grab the PS Plus free games for August 2026, which include Dying Light 2 Stay Human, Big Walk, and Signalis. The former is an open-world zombie game (now with guns vs. its melee-focused launch), Big Walk is an open-world co-op game, and Signalis is an old-school survival-horror game. It’s worth noting, for PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers, that Dying Light 2 was also added to that tier for August 2026. In other words, Essential subscribers should claim it to keep forever, but higher tiers—if they haven’t yet—have time to play it all the same.
PS Plus Free Games for September 2026 List
- Sniper Elite Resistance (PS4, PS5)
- Wobbly Life (PS4, PS5)
- Chained Echoes (PS4)
- MLB The Show 26 (PS5)
Beginning September 1 (as announced by the Playstation Blog), PS Plus Essential, Extra, and Premium subscribers will be able to grab Sniper Elite Resistance, Wobby Life, Chained Echoes, and MLB The Show 26 at no additional cost than their subscription. What’s interesting is how PS Plus essentially typically features three games, with the core 3 PS Plus free games for September leaking online early. Not included there, but included here, is the surprise fourth freebie: MLB The Show 26. Interestingly, the key visual isn’t promoting Chained Echoes, so it’s uncertain what’s going on there.
Find the odd one out before the timer hits zero.
For those unfamiliar, Sniper Elite Resistance is a WWII stealth-action shooter that puts players behind the rifle as they work to undermine the Nazi war machine with an emphasis on long-range sniping. While it can be played solo, there are also a few co-op and multiplayer modes perfect for PS Plus subscribers to check out with their friends. Meanwhile, Wobby Life expands the open-world games on PS Plus with players taking on one of 40 different jobs, with the goofy physics making up most of the humor in core gameplay and additional modes.
Chained Echoes is a strong addition, too, that shouldn’t be ignored. Chained Echoes is a story-driven JRPG set across the continent of Valandis, where three kingdoms have been locked in war for generations. Players follow a group of heroes as they travel through varied environments, battle enemies, uncover the consequences of betrayal, and attempt to bring peace to the continent. Its presentation deliberately evokes 16-bit-era RPGs, while its fantasy setting combines traditional swords and magic with dragons and piloted mechanical suits.
Wrapping up the PS Plus free games for September 2026 is MLB The Show 26, baseball simulation centered around both traditional on-field play and several major career and management modes. As always, players can enjoy several game modes from Road to the Show and Franchise to Diamond Dynasty, while enjoying new gameplay systems like Bear Down Pitching and Big Zone Hitting, along with hundreds of new fielding animations.
