The PlayStation Plus free monthly games for September 2026 are now officially live, with Sony’s subscribers able to claim up to four titles for the duration of the promotion. The latest lineup spans both PS4 and PS5 games valued at nearly $180 combined, with PS Plus users having until early October to take advantage of their newest subscription perk.

The lineup at hand will not come as a surprise to the most vigilant fans, as three of the four PS Plus monthly games for September 2026 leaked online a day ahead of their official announcement. MLB The Show 26 thus ended up being the only unspoiled title in the monthly selection.

$180 Worth of PS Plus Games Now Available to Claim Until October 5

The latest monthly set of PS Plus freebies formally launched on September 1, around 10 a.m. local time. The ongoing promotion allows subscribers a chance to claim Wobbly Life, Sniper Elite: Resistance, Chained Echoes, and MLB The Show 26. All four titles are available across every subscription tier, from Essential through Premium, until October 5, 2026. The September 2026 PS Plus Essential lineup has a combined retail value of $179.96, nearly $100 (and over 80%) more than its August counterpart.

Chained Echoes Headlines PS Plus Essential September 2026 Lineup

In More Ways Than One

Chained Echoes is the best-reviewed game of the group, with an 89 OpenCritic average based on 63 professional reviews and a 4.75-star PlayStation Store score derived from more than 1,700 player reviews. The 2022 turn-based RPG pairs nostalgic, 16-bit-style graphics with decidedly modern quality-of-life features and systems, including seamless tag-team switching, visible overworld enemies in place of random encounters, and full party restore after each fight. Besides critical acclaim, Chained Echoes stands apart from the rest of the PS Plus September lineup as the only exclusively single-player title among the four currently on offer. Likewise, it is the oldest release of the group, due to turn four in early December 2026.

With the Essential tier lineup receiving its final Q3 2026 refresh, the next major date on the PS Plus calendar is September 9, when Sony is expected to reveal this month’s additions to the Extra and Premium game libraries. The first batch of titles should arrive on September 15, with RuneScape: Dragonwilds already confirmed as a day-one PS Plus release for that date.

Some Off-Schedule PS Plus News Possibly Coming on September 3

Before then, there is a new PlayStation State of Play happening on September 3, at 6am PT / 9am ET / 3pm CET, immediately followed by a State of Play Japan broadcast. Although PS Plus news is never guaranteed at these showcases, Sony has occasionally used them to announce upcoming monthly Essential freebies, Extra-tier catalog additions, and Premium-exclusive classics. Both the February and June 2026 State of Play events featured PS Plus news, making it entirely plausible that the September 3 showcase could follow suit.
