Rainbow Six Siege Reveals Attack on Titan Crossover

Rainbow Six Siege Reveals Attack on Titan Crossover

It may seem almost too outlandish to believe, but Rainbow Six Siege is crossing over with hit anime Attack on Titan. Tactical shooter Rainbow Six Siege and dark fantasy anime Attack on Titan may not strike fans as having much in common, and the playerbase seems to be having a seriously mixed reaction to the reveal.

Though Attack on Titan‘s original manga ended in 2021 and the anime in 2023, the series has had a major hold on fans. Attack on Titan created an intriguing world, and though the anime and manga wrapped up the story of most of the characters fans came to know and love, the series hasn’t faded from pop culture. Part of what’s kept it at the forefront of fans’ minds has been a steady influx of crossovers, and now Rainbow Six Siege is joining the list.

Attack On Titan: Every Main Character’s Age, Height, And Birthday

Attack On Titan is one of the best-known anime series of the past decade. Here are some basic details fans should know about the main characters.

Rainbow Six Siege and Attack on Titan Collide in Collab

Ubisoft’s tactical shooter revealed an Attack on Titan collaboration landing on Christmas Eve. The crossover features two premium cosmetic bundles that give Amaru a set based on Mikasa Ackerman, while Oryx receives one based on the Armored Titan. A video teaser shows the outfits on their operators in action, with Amaru using her Garra Hook to rappel up and across walls, similar to how Mikasa used the omni-directional mobility gear the anime’s Titan-fighting squads were equipped with. Oryx, on the other hand, promptly crashes through a wall at the start of the video, similar to the Armored Titan’s original appearance in the Attack on Titan franchise, where it helped breach the walls surrounding the city.

The two bundles each include headgear, uniform, weapon skin, operator card portrait, and universal weapon charm. Oryx receives the Titanic Demolisher weapon skin for his T-5 SMG, while Amaru receives the Trusted Woodgrain weapon skin for the G8A1. Each bundle can be acquired individually for 2,160 R6 Credits, or together at a slight discount for 4,080 R6 Credits. The release is out now, but players who aren’t ready to buy at this time don’t have to worry, as they’re permanent in-store bundles.

Rainbow Six Siege and Attack on Titan Fans React

As one might expect, there have been plenty of responses to this collab, which was rumored to be happening for a while in advance. Some outspoken fans of both franchises are pretty excited about the collaboration, as it combines two of their favorite things, but others have been more critical of it. Some Rainbow Six Siege players have lamented the loss of the game’s core visual identity, reflecting on the days it was more of a strict tactical shooter without numerous collaborations with other properties. Others have complained about the characters chosen for the crossover, feeling that other Operators might be a better fit, but most have noted that Amaru and Oryx were likely chosen due to their tools and fighting styles, rather than their appearances.

To be fair, the complaints from the Rainbow Six Siege community regarding watering down the visual identity of the game or breaking some of its realism are mirrored in other game fandoms, as well. Call of Duty got a lot of flack for its wide array of cosmetics, including some that wildly altered the stylistic qualities of the game by introducing playable characters like Beavis and Butt-Head. Some have also complained about the frequent crossovers in recent history with games like Magic: The Gathering and even Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, which features real-world footballer Cristiano Ronaldo. Of course, other games have utilized crossovers as arguably some of their greatest strengths, like Fortnite or Super Smash Bros. There’s no way to make everyone happy, unfortunately, and it doesn’t seem like the trend is on its way out.
