Resident Evil Requiem stars fan favorite Leon S. Kennedy and newcomer Grace Ashcroft as they try to survive against unrelenting hordes of zombies and other horrific monsters. Resident Evil Requiem‘s two playable characters feature completely distinct playstyles, with Grace’s sections more akin to classic Resident Evil, where players are encouraged to avoid enemies whenever possible, and Leon’s sections offering over-the-top action and spectacle.

Instead of picking one character or the other like in past Resident Evil games, control swaps between Resident Evil Requiem‘s dual protagonists at various points in the story. There are some parts where the focus is entirely on Grace, and others when players take control of Leon for an extended period of time. Some Resident Evil fans may have thought that the two protagonists would have meant that Requiem has a longer runtime than most Resident Evil games, but instead, it’s mostly par for the course.

How Long Does Resident Evil Requiem Take to Beat?

  • First playthrough: 7-8 hours on Standard difficulty
  • 100%: 25-30 hours

Those expecting a longer adventure like Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 6 should note that it will take most people an average of 7-8 hours to beat Resident Evil Requiem on its standard difficulty setting. Anyone looking to get 100% and unlock all of Resident Evil Requiem‘s trophies can most likely expect to do at least three to four playthroughs of the game taking on its various challenges, and so I estimate that 30 hours will be how long it takes most people to fully complete the game. This includes finding all the collectibles and completing stiff trophy/achievement challenges like beating the entire game without healing or crafting.

Subsequent playthroughs of Resident Evil Requiem will be sped up as players memorize the puzzle solutions and know exactly where they need to go to progress the story. It’s also worth pointing out that playtime may also be influenced by difficulty. There is an easy mode that can speed up combat encounters quite a bit, plus there are higher difficulties available to those looking for a serious challenge. The highest difficulty available at the start is the Standard (Classic) difficulty, which makes Resident Evil Requiem players have to use ink ribbons if they want to save during Grace’s sections.

Unlike some other Resident Evil games, Requiem does not have defined chapters.

Most Resident Evil games can be completed fairly quickly, with Requiem a little longer than most games in the series but quite a few hours shorter than the longer ones. There’s a trophy to complete Resident Evil Requiem in under four hours, so it’s clearly possible to blow through the game with enough practice.
