When jumping into Diablo 2: Resurrected‘s Reign of the Warlock DLC for the first time, players are spoiled for choice when it comes to Warlock build options. The new Diablo 2: Resurrected class is very powerful, and players have three skill trees to choose from when piecing together their abilities. For new D2R players, there is one Warlock build that is easy to start in the early game, with the scaling potential to clear Nightmare and Hell difficulties as players progress.

Although the Warlock’s most unique skill tree involves summoning demons like Goatmen, Tainted, and Defilers, as well as binding any demon in Diablo 2 to use as a minion, there are other, more straightforward build options with just as many screen-clearing skill options. The Warlock’s Eldritch Skill Tree focuses on enchanting and manipulating the class’s weapons with arcane power, while the Chaos Skill Tree is oriented around more magic-based skills and AoE spells.

This S-Tier Diablo 2: Resurrected Warlock Build Has Nearly Infinite DPS Potential

Diablo 2: Resurrected’s new Warlock class is instantly one of the best in the game, and one build in particular is dominating the meta.

Fire Warlocks in Diablo 2: Resurrected are going to largely focus on investing in the Chaos Skill Tree, since it is ripe with powerful Fire skills that provide excellent synergy with one another. Additionally, this Warlock build will want to put some skill points into the Demon Skill Tree as well in order to access the Bind Demon skill, while also supporting the Warlock with summoned demons that they can Consume for buffs.

Levitation Mastery can be invested in on the Eldritch Skill Tree if the player wants to improve their ability to wield a two-handed weapon with one hand.

Best Skills for a Diablo 2 Fire Warlock Build

  • Ring of Fire
  • Flame Wave
  • Apocalypse
  • Sigil: Death
  • Demonic Mastery
  • Summon Tainted
  • Consume
  • Bind Demon

Ring of Fire is the first major skill Warlock players will want to invest in, and it acts as both a way to deal AoE damage while also pushing enemies back to help protect the Warlock early on. Flame Wave is the next skill in the Warlock’s Chaos Skill Tree that’s worth investing in, as it pushes enemies back with a wall of fire that also helps keep the players protected. Apocalypse is the ultimate Fire skill the Warlock can add to their kit, and it can be a devastating way to clear the screen with a massive flaming pentagram that also reduces foes’ fire resistance.

In order to access Apocalypse, Diablo 2: Resurrected Warlocks will also need to invest in Sigil: Death, which can be a handy skill in its own right. Enemies caught in this sigil will slay enemies with less than 13% health and create an explosion that deals 70-120% of that enemy’s health. The Demon Skill Tree is the other source of this build’s skills, with a special focus on unlocking Bind Demon so that players can tame a powerful Super Unique demon companion. Summon Tainted and Consume are useful, since Consuming a summoned Tainted gives the Warlock increased Fire damage temporarily, making it the perfect complement to a Fire Warlock build.

Best Demon to Bind for a Diablo 2 Fire Warlock Build

Like most Diablo 2: Resurrected Warlock builds, Hephasto the Armorer is the best-in-slot demon to bind, since he can grant the player the Fanaticism Aura as well as the chance to cast Amplify Damage when hit due to his Cursed affix, which also affects allies. Unfortunately, Hephasto isn’t found until Diablo 2: Resurrected Act 4. As such, players can take any Aura Enchanted demon with either the Fanaticism or Conviction Aura as a solid substitute.

While fine-tuning the Fire Warlock for the late game and Hell difficulty run appeals to veteran players, this build is also ideal for Diablo 2: Resurrected newcomers. Each of the primary Warlock skills used here focuses on doing damage to a large group of enemies while also adding a layer of protection to the player. Early game players who are concerned about survivability can also lean into the Warlock’s Demon Skill Tree and get more summons to protect them while they progress to the point where they are ready to respec into a more Fire-centric gameplay loop.
