Roblox has received a brand-new update, introducing a Makeup category that gives fans even more ways to customize their avatars. Launched in 2006, Roblox is an online platform and game creation system where players can play, design, and share their own experiences. It’s one of the most popular gaming platforms in the industry, attracting millions every month who log on and enjoy a variety of unique titles.
One of the major reasons behind Roblox‘s ongoing success is its consistent stream of updates. In a recent update, Roblox transitioned the Classic Faces over to Dynamic Heads, giving players the option to toggle facial animations on or off and swap between a range of head shapes at will. Now, the developers are back with yet another update, this time introducing a feature that lets fans further personalize their character’s appearance exactly to their liking.

Roblox Gets a New Makeup Feature
Roblox has launched a new Makeup feature, which is now live and accessible through the Avatar Marketplace and the Customize tab. It gives players a fresh way to personalize their avatars by combining and layering eye, lip, facial makeup, eyebrows, and eyelash items. Even though it’s called “Makeup”, the category also includes other cosmetics such as face paint, battle scars, artwork, camouflage, and more. Currently, over 100 items are available, and Roblox plans to expand the selection on a regular basis through contributions from both independent creators and brands. This addition marks yet another step by Roblox in enhancing the overall player experience.
Not only does the Makeup feature open up new possibilities for various games on Roblox, but it also brings monetization opportunities for creators on the platform. Creators can now come up with tons of limited-time items at discount prices, allowing players to experiment with new styles and get exclusive looks tied to specific in-game events or concerts. Several brands have also already jumped on board, with e.l.f Cosmetics leading the charge. It is collaborating with top creators on the platform to develop looks inspired by its products, while also giving fans a virtual try-on experience with the help of its own Roblox experiences, such as e.l.f Up and Glow Up.
Roblox has stated that the significance of makeup among Gen Z is the primary reason behind the addition of this feature to the platform. It’s been noted that 77% of makeup users feel more like themselves when wearing it, and that makeup, much like clothing, plays a big role in the community identity and subculture experience. The ultimate goal of the development team is to give the community greater control over how they look and feel in-game.

Many fans are now hoping that future updates introduce even deeper avatar customization options, including improved hair options, greater skin tone flexibility, refined body proportions, richer textures, and more. The community remains optimistic about the platform’s future, believing that it will continue to thrive as long as it listens to feedback and brings creative updates while maintaining player safety.
