Everyone is counting down to the debut of Grand Theft Auto 6: An Extended Look on Netflix on August 27, and now Rockstar Games has confirmed a brand-new detail that would-be viewers should keep in mind ahead of time. It’s uncertain why Rockstar Games didn’t confirm this detail ahead of time, but it’s ultimately a good thing for Grand Theft Auto 6, so it’s probably no big deal for tons of creators and fans.
As of this writing, Rockstar Games and Netflix’s Extended Look at GTA 6 drops on August 27 at 12 pm PT/3 pm ET. It’ll come to YouTube six hours later at 6 pm PT/9 pm ET, essentially making it a timed Netflix exclusive. Rockstar also recently confirmed that some creators will be able to produce previews of the upcoming open-world game, but many previously believed that any sort of streaming or group viewing would not be possible until it hit YT. That’s not exactly the case.
GTA 6’s Netflix Debut Okays Reaction Content
Following up on its initial August 6 tweet announcing the GTA 6 Extended Look, the official Rockstar Twitter account added that “creators can share their reaction content across social and video platforms.” In other words, fans can expect an influx of short-form and long-form videos on YouTube and other social media platforms ahead of the official video later that night.
Any creator looking to do so should be sure their setup can record Netflix. As anyone who has ever tried knows, Netflix will often go black when any recording software is detected, but the workaround is quite simple.

Anyone looking to create reaction videos to GTA 6 tomorrow needs to disable hardware acceleration on Google Chrome and restart their browser. Simple is as simple does. Fans can expect their favorite content creators, perhaps even more, all to create reaction content for the GTA 6: Extended Look, so that’s what’s going to dominate every algorithm for the coming weekend at least. And hopefully the noise from that drowns out any leaked spoilers.
As many fans know, an individual or group known as Cyberleek has been sharing leaked gameplay videos of GTA 6. That has only escalated with every post, with one of the latest including spoilers for Lucia’s prologue in GTA 6. Many would argue that most of their gameplay videos have been small and ultimately harmless, even if Rockstar and Take-Two disagree, but story spoilers cross a line. Unfortunately, it stands to reason that GTA 6‘s Extended Look could be an excuse for Cyberleek to escalate.

Regardless, August 27 is expected to be the first major stop for its marketing tour, not the last one. While it remains to be seen if Netflix’s Extended Look at GTA 6 is a multi-episode miniseries or a one-off, fans are no doubt excited for the first official look and every single one that comes after.
