Job listings for roles at Rockstar Games have offered a hint at the developer’s plans for Grand Theft Auto 6’s online mode. The developer plans to release the hotly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 on November 19, 2026, with a brand-new online mode expected to follow shortly after the full game’s launch.

Grand Theft Auto Online was first launched as a companion to the massively successful Grand Theft Auto 5, releasing less than a month after the title hit store shelves. The multiplayer expansion has been an enormous hit for Rockstar, with a dedicated fan base consistently making content and participating in massive role-playing experiences on the platform. Take-Two has pledged to continue supporting GTA Online despite the impending release of the base game’s sequel, which will likely be paired with a new version of the online platform.

New Rockstar Job Listings Hint at Grand Theft Auto 6’s Online Plans

A handful of job listings posted by Rockstar Games have teased the developer’s plans for Grand Theft Auto 6’s online mode. As spotted by Rockstar fan site Rockstar Intel, the job openings include a Senior Manager position that requests a candidate who will “help shape the future of Rockstar’s Creative Platform ecosystem,” implying that Rockstar intends to majorly expand the support for user-created content in the upcoming game. Another of the job listings is for a Strategy Research Associate role, with the open position requiring a candidate who is familiar with a variety of content creation platforms, listing Roblox, Fortnite, YouTube, Twitch, and TikTok by name. The listing also requests candidates that are “familiar with the GTA Roleplay ecosystem.”

In addition to allowing players to pursue the perfect criminal career in GTA Online, the incredibly popular game mode has become a haven for role-playing opportunities. Several servers have popped up since the launch of the online version of the game, with dedicated fans building widespread communities through the platform. It looks like those experiences will continue to flourish in the future of GTA Online, and Rockstar may be expanding players’ abilities to engage in RP content with the game’s next iteration.

Rockstar has been supportive of GTA Online’s RP community in the past, and it looks like that support will be bolstered even further with GTA 6’s version. The developer has incorporated CFX.re — the creators of FiveM, GTA Online’s most popular RP community — into the Rockstar fold, announcing a partnership with the independent dev team in 2023. The partnership heightened the rampant rumors that GTA 6 would support RP servers, and the job openings posted by Rockstar will only increase fan speculation even further.

Along with speculation about GTA Roleplay support, there have been a host of rumors about GTA 6’s user-created content since the game’s official reveal. Content creation in video games has expanded greatly since the release of GTA 5, with games like Fortnite and Roblox exploding with user-generated material in recent years. GTA Online inherently supporting the creations of its fans would give the game a similarly unending supply of content to experience, while also allowing fans to officially inject their creative energy into the wildly successful world of Grand Theft Auto.
