Few games in the Final Fantasy series have maintained the kind of long-term fan demand surrounding Final Fantasy 9, including this new upcoming special edition collection. Originally released in 2000, Final Fantasy 9 arrived as a return to the series’ classic fantasy roots after several increasingly modern settings, and its cast, world, and visual style have helped it remain a favorite among longtime fans. More than two decades later, the title continues to attract attention whenever Square Enix revisits its older Final Fantasy games.

That demand has been particularly noticeable whenever the possibility of a Final Fantasy 9 remake or remaster comes up. While Square Enix has never officially announced such a project, rumors and reports surrounding a potential remake have kept Final Fantasy 9 in the conversation for years. The continued interest also gives Square Enix plenty of opportunities to revisit the game through merchandise, especially with recognizable characters like Zidane, Vivi, Garnet, and Beatrix still holding a special place among Final Fantasy fans.

Square Enix is now giving Final Fantasy 9 fans another way to celebrate the game, with pre-orders officially opening for a new collection of music boxes based on the classic RPG. First and foremost is the titular Final Fantasy 9 music box: Roses of May, which features the iconic song as well as a featured image of Beatrix.

The collection also includes Final Fantasy 9: Not Alone, which features silhouettes of Zidane, Garnet, Vivi, Adelbert, Freya, Eiko, Quina, and Amarant, as well as Final Fantasy 9: A Place to Call Home, which instead puts the Final Fantasy 9 logo at the center of its design. Both music boxes measure approximately 5.99 x 5.30 x 3.98 centimeters, and each is priced at roughly £24.99 ($28.99).

Pre-orders for the Final Fantasy 9: Roses of May Collection are available now, with the expected shipping and delivery date being any day now. Any fan who wants some new Final Fantasy 9 collectibles is really in for a treat, as none of these items are notably expensive (in a world full of expensive merch), and the compact size also makes both collectibles considerably less imposing than some of Square Enix’s larger merchandise offerings.

For Final Fantasy 9, the continued focus on merchandise is another indication of how much staying power the 2000 RPG has retained. A Final Fantasy 9 remake may still be something fans are waiting for, but Square Enix continues to find ways to bring pieces of Final Fantasy 9 back into the spotlight.
