Fortnite will allegedly be adding an all-new vehicle mechanic in the next season, which will allow players to hijack vehicles that other players are driving. The new feature, which will purportedly go live with the launch of Chapter 5 Season 3, could shake things up with how vehicles are strategically utilized and dealt with among the vast Fortnite player base.

Epic Games’ ever-expanding title has its primary Battle Royale mode in the midst of Chapter 5 Season 2. Titled “Myths & Mortals,” the Fortnite season features an ancient Greek gods theme, bringing POIs like Mount Olympus and The Underworld, along with powerful weapons like the Thunderbolt of Zeus and the Chains of Hades. More recently, yet another franchise crossover was introduced, bringing Avatar: The Last Airbender content to Fortnite. The crossover includes skins of the core cast including Aang, Katara, Toph, and Zuko, in addition to adding Avatar‘s bending abilities to Fortnite in the form of Mythic items.

Although Fortnite‘s vehicles may not have been given much attention as of late, the proposed hijacking mechanic could reinvigorate the game’s primary method of rapid transportation. According to an article by Dexerto, a reliable Fortnite leaker called SpushFNBR (via HYPEX) states that a “steal” prompt will appear when a vehicle can be hijacked, but will fail if it crashes or moves suddenly to prevent the prompt’s completion. Players will also have the ability to cancel hijacking attempts, though it’s unclear whether it’s referring to the attempted hijacker or the driver of the vehicle.

In addition, Fortnite‘s purported new vehicle hijacking mechanic will include a cooldown, though it’s currently anyone’s guess as to how long. Should the rumor be true, it would confirm the reports from late 2023 that Fortnite was possibly introducing a new vehicle mechanic. A Fortnite leaker called Loolo_WRLD revealed similar information to what those above have supposedly discovered, in that there will be a cooldown, and the hijacking will fail if the vehicle crashes or turns sharply. Interestingly, the older leak involves high speed as a reason for hijacking failure, absent from the more recent leak.

Fortnite‘s Info Leak Royale

While the leak of the vehicle hijacking figure appears to be more true than false, Fortnite has a much bigger info slip potentially on its hands. A possible Fortnite 2024 roadmap was recently leaked, potentially revealing the title’s plans for the rest of the entire year. The roadmap includes crossovers with numerous IPs, including Among Us and Pirates of the Caribbean, as well as musical guests in Fortnite Festival like Karol G. and Snoop Dogg.

The addition of vehicle hijacking isn’t the only rumored feature coming to Fortnite. According to another leak, Fortnite may be getting a picture-in-picture feature, something long requested by many in the Fortnite community. However, only time will tell if some, all, or any of these Fortnite rumors actually turn into reality.
