Sand Land is an upcoming action RPG adaptation by ILCA and Bandai Namco Entertainment based on the Japanese manga series by Akira Toriyama. Currently slated for a worldwide release on April 26, 2024, Sand Land follows the story of Beelzebub, whom players will control, and his friends — Rao, Ann, and Thief — as they embark on a journey to find a Legendary Spring hidden somewhere in the desert. While Sand Land is based on Akira Toriyama’s manga series, it has been confirmed that players will not need to be familiar with it to follow the game’s events. Nevertheless, it’s likely to cater to longtime fans of the manga even more than those who have yet to indulge in it.

Several key features have already been confirmed for Sand Land ahead of its full release, some of which include in-depth customization mechanics, a sizable open world, and action-packed combat. However, there will likely be more unveiled once the game launches near the end of April.

The action RPG based on Sand Land is set to bring players into another of Akira Toriyama’s worlds, but it also differs from the original story.

Sand Land Features Highly Detailed Vehicle Customization

Sand Land‘s vehicles are arguably the game’s standout feature. There are plenty of vehicles with unique mechanics, like the Jump Bot, the Hovercar, and the Battle Armor. While the abilities that each of these vehicles provides are worthwhile enough on their own, one of Sand Land‘s best features lies in the ability players have to customize those vehicles down to the most minute details.

Sand Land‘s vehicles are massively customizable and are perhaps the most customizable feature in the game. Not only can vehicles be upgraded to become more powerful, but players can also personalize the appearance of their vehicles using various paint colors and decals. In customizing their vehicles, players can choose what primary and secondary weapons their vehicles will have, as well as each vehicle’s engine, suspension, and a few other options that seem to be specific to Sand Land.

Players Will Utilize a Sizable Skill Tree for Sand Land’s Fast-Paced Combat

When it comes to combat in Sand Land, players will need to be prepared every step of the way. Thankfully, each character in Sand Land (not just Beelzebub) comes with their own set of skills. While Beelzebub’s skill tree is about twice the size of his friends’, it should still make for a satisfying role-playing experience to unlock and equip skills for each of the game’s characters.

In Sand Land‘s combat, players can either battle on foot using Beelzebub’s skills or in their customized vehicles. In fact, some of Sand Land‘s fights will almost demand that players use vehicles, as battling these enemies without one can prove to be nearly impossible.

Players Will Explore a Sprawling Open World and Have an Upgradeable Home Base to Return to in Sand Land

From what has been revealed so far, Sand Land‘s open world is extensive, to say the least. Players will venture through distinct environments, including a sprawling dry desert and a lush green world. There will likely be plenty to find in Sand Land‘s open world, including plenty of dungeons and side quests to complete.

When they’re not exploring Sand Land‘s open world, players can return to their home base, Spino City. Here, players can build and upgrade vehicles, purchase items from merchants, and even customize their own room in the back of the garage with a wide range of furniture and aesthetics to choose from. Over time, players will even witness Spino City grow, as more and more villagers move in and players complete side quests.

More features are likely to reveal themselves after Sand Land launches on April 26. However, judging by what has been confirmed so far, it is already showing its true colors as a massive adventure full of activities to complete and sights to explore.
