A Saros player has discovered hidden codes on the game’s PlayStation page that yield a free download for the recently released roguelite game from prestige developer Housemarque. As of this writing, it’s not clear when or if these codes will expire (they presumably do), so Saros players should make sure they claim them via their PlayStation as soon as possible.

While such a freebie for Saros is not surprising, it is quite a bit of fun to imagine how many folks missed it. In short, the code can be found on the PlayStation store page when clicking the “Call Eclipse” button. Doing so triggers a short animation, and once it is over, players can click on “End Eclipse” to erase the code. The code is different per region, so those who do not wish to trigger the code themselves can find it below:

Saros Vs. Returnal: Which Is The Better Game?

Housemarque’s Saros and Returnal games deliver similar, roguelike experiences, but one game has an edge over the other.

The above codes can be claimed on the PlayStation Store or the PlayStation app to redeem a pack of 6 Saros PSN avatars for the game, with the first one stylized after the protagonist Arjun (played by Rahul Kohli) and the other five being bosses fought in the game. The hidden codes were seemingly found by Yvan Dureve of Chocobo Plan, who also created the preview image above. To claim on the PlayStation Store, select profile, choose redeem codes, and enter the above code for your region carefully to apply the content to your account.

It’s a simple gift, but it is a free one, and nothing beats free in today’s economy. Such a code will no doubt be claimed a lot by PS5 owners because, while Sony and Housemarque have yet to release any sales figures (it’s not even been a week since release), it is presumably selling well. Returnal reached a relatively small, yet strong audience, and Saros is arguably as good, if not better, than it. It is certainly more accessible and has more direct backing from Sony, so it’ll be interesting to see how it all plays out in the long run.

For those considering picking it up, it’s a pretty easy recommendation as one of the best PS5 exclusives on the market. It’s also a strong start to the year given PlayStation’s current line-up for the year, which also includes the highly anticipated Marvel’s Wolverine from Insomniac Games.

As GameRant Managing Editor Dalton Cooper wrote in our Saros review, “[It] is an excellent, heart-pounding action game that is easily one of the PS5’s best exclusives. The combat is exhilarating, and Carcosa is a blast to explore. The quality-of-life features make it more accessible than Returnal, and while that might upset some purists, it helps Saros avoid some of the frustrating pitfalls that roguelite games sometimes fall into. Saros is one of the year’s best releases and a must-have for PS5 gamers.”
