A Skyrim player was saved from a ferocious Frost Troll in the game by an unlikely entity—a grizzly bear that could have also killed them. While this encounter seems like just the latest in a long history of bugs and glitches in Skyrim, this is a common occurrence in the game that’s been reported by players for years.
Skyrim remains one of Bethesda’s most popular games after almost 13 years of existence. It’s already spanned three generations of platforms, something that only a relatively few other games have rivaled. Despite that, fans continue to make discoveries as they explore every inch of the game’s world, proving that Skyrim is so well crafted (and well sustained).

Over on r/skyrim, Redditor Due_Ad8830 posted their gameplay footage in which they were facing off against the iconic and powerful Skyrim Frost Troll, which is definitely no pushover as an enemy. They show themselves running away from the troll, but not before a bear can be seen slowly coming up from behind it. It’s not clear if Due_Ad8830 assumed the bear was also going after them, but after taking a few steps, they turned around to discover that the troll was no longer pursuing them after the bear had started to attack it.
Due_Ad8830’s footage is also notable as it had amazing high-definition textures, specifically on the snow on the ground. This was what caught the eye and impressed fellow Redditors, and how Skyrim looks on current high-end machines could be a possible glimpse at how the upcoming Elder Scrolls 6 might look. However, fans will have to wait a while longer, as Bethesda only just announced that The Elder Scrolls 6 has just graduated to playable early builds. The last time the studio announced something like that was for Starfield in 2018, and it took around five more years for the game to release.
In the meantime, the huge fan community has kept Skyrim very much alive. Aside from three official DLC expansions for the game, there’s also so much fan-made content to try and go through, with over 10 years of Skyrim mods available online. Hardcore fans and newcomers to the series will have their hands full exploring and discovering every nook and cranny of the game, as well as trying out all its different story branches—the main conflict alone in which the player has to choose between the Stormcloaks and Imperials is enough of a reason for more than one playthrough.
