Exploring the lands of Skyrim, the Dragonborn can find dozens of different ingredients. Most of them are needed for making potions. But sometimes they are required for quests, which becomes a real headache since some are quite well hidden. This applies to Crimson Nirnroot, which players can only get in one place in Skyrim.
Crimson Nirnroots are required for the quest A Return To Your Roots. And although it takes a long time, the reward is worth all the effort.

Where to Find Crimson Nirnroot in Skyrim
Unlike the usual green Nirnroot, which grows all around Skyrim, Crimson Nirnroot can only be obtained in Blackreach. It is a vast underground location that can only be reached by following the Discerning the Transmundane or Elder Knowledge quests. The last one is main story quest, so you will get to this location sooner or later.
Blackreach has many different resources, including Crimson Nirnroot. Players can find more than 40 locations where this plant grows, including the Derelict Pumphouse and Sinderion’s Field Laboratory.
Like the regular Nirnroot, Crimson Nirnroot makes a loud chiming sound when the Dragonborn gets close to it. To make it easier to find, lower the music volume to a minimum, and you will find the plants you need pretty fast. In addition, we recommend that you look for them near bodies of water. Players just need to find a few spawn locations for these plants and then visit them every 10 days to collect as many Crimson Nirnroot as they want.
How To Get To Blackreach Without Quests
There is no way to legally enter Blackreach until you complete the required quests. However, the Dragonborn can bypass this rule with just a plate and one shout. So, firstly, you need to get to the Tower of Mzark.
Then, bring a wooden plate to the gate and press yourself to it. After that, use Whirlwind Sprint Shout to force your way to the lift. Finally, activate it to get to Blackreach. And, in order not to use this glitch every time, you better activate other lifts.
