- A new mod for Skyrim brings the iconic starting town of Icewind Dale, Easthaven, to the game, complete with quests, NPCs, and new equipment.
- The mod, called Elder Scrolls 5: Easthaven, also includes a new dungeon and requires pre-requisite mods for installation, such as Skyrim Script Extender.
- Other mods for Skyrim have added new areas to the game, including the county of Bruma from The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion and the Summerset Isles, the Altmer homeland.
Easthaven, the starting town of legendary developer Black Isle Studios’ beloved Icewind Dale, has been brought over to The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim via a newly released mod. In addition to new areas, the project also adds new equipment, NPCs, and even quests.
Released in 2011, Bethesda Game Studios’ Skyrim is known for its massive modding scene. The remastered version of the popular RPG, Skyrim Special Edition, has close to 70,000 different mods on Nexus Mods, which is the internet’s largest mod hosting website. These mods vary in size and scope, with some mods being small scripts, while others add gigabytes’ worth of new content to the game. One incredible mod has recreated the prologue area of 2000’s Icewind Dale, Easthaven, in Skyrim.
Skyrim: The 20 Best Graphics Mods You Need To Install
If you’re looking to make Skyrim look as beautiful as possible, these are the best graphics mods to install.
The fan-made mod Elder Scrolls 5: Easthaven features its namesake fishing village, as well as eight quests, more than 15 weapons, and several unique NPCs. The recently released mod, which was designed to be played with a new character on Skyrim‘s Adept difficulty, also comes with a new dungeon. Those interested in playing The Elder Scrolls 5: Easthaven will need a few pre-requisite mods like Skyrim Script Extender, a utility that is considered essential even among those who are just trying to figure out how to mod in Skyrim.
Aside from The Elder Scrolls 5: Easthaven, there are many more Skyrim mods that add new areas to the game. One adds the county of Bruma that played a prominent role in the story of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, while another adds the Altmer homeland of the Summerset Isles.
Bethesda’s latest release, Starfield, has also cultivated a solid modding scene, but it is nowhere near as large as Skyrim‘s. A team of modders that wanted to put out a Starfield multiplayer mod called Starfield Together suspended work on the initiative as they claimed they did not want to pour their hearts and souls into a mod for a mediocre game. This team had previously worked for years to successfully develop Skyrim Together for Skyrim.
Icewind Dale, much like Black Isle Studios’ other fantasy releases, takes place in Dungeons & Dragons‘ Forgotten Realms campaign setting. Created by Canadian fantasy writer Ed Greenwood, the highly popular Forgotten Realms is considered by some to be the flagship setting for Dungeons & Dragons. Some of the best Dungeons & Dragons games are set in the Forgotten Realms, like Larian Studios’ hit Baldur’s Gate 3 and the classic Neverwinter Nights by BioWare.
Skyrim is a beloved game for a reason. There is so much to do in the game, and with the new anniversary updates, even veteran players will have a fresh experience if they haven’t played it in a few years.
Perfect for players who want to play Skyrim on the go, but don’t have a Steamdeck or another portable gaming system, this deal is likely not going to be repeated until end of year sales start going. Take the opportunity now to become the dragonborn on the Switch!
