- A Skyrim player regretfully purchases a horse that dies shortly after, resulting in a wasted 1000 gold.
- Other players have also experienced the bug of horses flying in the game, indicating a known issue.
- After purchasing the expensive horse, the player hits a bug that sends them both floating through the air, only to drop from a large height and killing the horse instantly.
A Skyrim player immediately regrets buying a horse after it falls to its death right afterward. There are various Skyrim locations where players can purchase a horse to get around faster, but this one may have made the wrong decision in buying theirs.
Skyrim offers a vast open world for players to explore that includes many points of interest. This world is first fully realized as the player escapes Helgen Keep, which acts as the games tutorial in what has been dubbed a “step out moment.” From this point, players can go anywhere on the map if they choose not to immediately pursue the campaign. Discovering new areas can often result in side quests and lucrative rewards. Players can travel to cities with a carriage located outside of them, or they can buy a horse to go anywhere a bit faster. This player turned out to regret their decision to buy a horse as it didn’t live long enough to travel much of the open world.
Skyrim Player Finds Paarthurnax Dead in Unexpected Location
A Skyrim player finds Paarthurnax dead far from the Throat of the World, where the important questline NPC is supposed to be located.
Reddit user Ceannaliel recently shared a Skyrim clip where they’re mounted on a horse next to the Crabber’s Shanty. According to the player, the blonde horse had just been purchased five minutes before, but the video almost immediately shows their predicament. As they ride the horse through a stream, it flies straight up with the Skyrim Dragonborn still on it. Once the two reach an impressive height, they plummet back to the ground, resulting in the horse’s death. Although the Dragonborn falls through the horse and collapses at this point, they rise to their feet unscathed. The dead horse then slowly floats downstream as the clip concludes.
As horses like this one cost 1,000 gold, Ceannaliel has lost the currency without getting much benefit from the transaction. The Skyrim Dark Brotherhood questline also offers a free horse, which may be a better option for unlucky players, but can still be affected by bugs. Players can also tame wild horses or steal ones that are owned by NPCs, but the latter often results in receiving a bounty which has some drawbacks. If the player had a recent enough save to fall back on, they may have been able to revert their game to just prior to buying the horse, but the clip ends before any changes are made.
Because other players have had similar Skyrim flying horse experiences, this is a known bug in the game. There’s also noticeable latency in Ceannaliel’s video, and their gameplay may have been negatively impacted by it. It’s currently unclear if this would’ve caused the bug directly or if it may have been a contributing factor.
Skyrim is a beloved game for a reason. There is so much to do in the game, and with the new anniversary updates, even veteran players will have a fresh experience if they haven’t played it in a few years.
Perfect for players who want to play Skyrim on the go, but don’t have a Steamdeck or another portable gaming system, this deal is likely not going to be repeated until end of year sales start going. Take the opportunity now to become the dragonborn on the Switch!
