- A Skyrim player discovered the dead body of the important character Paarthurnax near Orphan Rock, sparking confusion and speculation about how he got there.
- Paarthurnax, a talking dragon, is typically found atop the highest mountain in the game.
- Players have reported finding his corpse in other locations, including Whiterun.
A Skyrim player has found Paarthurnax’s corpse near Orphan Rock, and they have no idea how it got there. Since Skyrim was released, players have encountered many bizarre things in its open world, but this Paarthurnax may be one of the most puzzling.
Skyrim differs from its predecessors in several ways, including how it handles stats and abilities. One key difference is the prevalence of dragons in the open world once players defeat the dragon that attacks Whiterun. Though some are labeled Elder Dragon or Blood Dragon, the first one is called Mirmulnir. After slaying dragons like Mirmulnir, the Skyrim Dragonborn absorbs its soul, which can be used to learn more shouts. As players progress through the story, they’ll meet a talking dragon named Paarthurnax atop the map’s highest mountain. Rather than finding Paarthurnax on the Throat of the World, one player discovered his corpse near Orphan Rock.
Skyrim Player Has Interesting Theory About the Dragonborn
A Skyrim player proposes a new theory regarding the history and backstory of the Dragonborn that could explain the opening of the game.
Reddit user EmergencyDevice6663 recently shared a Skyrim screenshot highlighting the body of Paarthurnax. The image shows that Paarthurnax died near a Stormcloak outpost according to the compass, and the Reddit user stated that the location is close to Orphan Rock. This landmark can be found between Skyrim‘s Helgen Keep and Ivarstead, with the Falkreath Stormcloak camp likely accounting for the outpost symbol. Although the gamer claims not to have killed Paarthurnax, the dragon seems freshly dead, and he is in the process of releasing his soul. Based on the Reddit users’ post, they’re perplexed about how the dead dragon got to Orphan Rock.
Paarthurnax is an important Skyrim quest NPC, and there are ways that he can be brought back to life, according to the community. Two quests that may revive the dead dragon are the main quest, which offers the Fire Breath shout, and A Daedra’s Best Friend, which features a talking dog. Despite being resurrected, players who have had similar Paarthurnax encounters have stated that The Blades congratulate them on killing the dragon. Other locations where players have found Parrthurnax’s corpse include Whiterun, near a bridge, and falling from the sky. Players have blamed Delphine, witches, Mudcrabs, Lydia, and the wind for the dragon’s death, but it’s currently unclear how an NPC could kill him.
As EmergencyDevice6663 didn’t clarify what happened in their save to cause Paarthurnax to die, it’s likely the result of a bug. Although Bethesda doesn’t patch the game often, it’s possible that an update can fix this Paarthurnax issue. Because Skyrim received a big update last year, a future one may address these lingering bugs.
Skyrim is a beloved game for a reason. There is so much to do in the game, and with the new anniversary updates, even veteran players will have a fresh experience if they haven’t played it in a few years.
Perfect for players who want to play Skyrim on the go, but don’t have a Steamdeck or another portable gaming system, this deal is likely not going to be repeated until end of year sales start going. Take the opportunity now to become the dragonborn on the Switch!
