Skyrim’s Riften Recreated in The Sims 4

A fan of both The Sims 4 and Skyrim remade the city of Riften entirely within The Sims 4 over the course of one year. While several expansion packs were used to plan out Riften within The Sims 4, the city’s architect said that it was remade within a 60×60 residential lot, meaning some compromises had to be made during Riften’s construction.

Although The Sims 4 and Skyrim have little in common at first glance, both titles have been mainstays in popular culture for over a decade. Throughout the years, fans have utilized The Sims 4 to recreate various environments and towns from other games, including Skyrim. For example, cities like Skyrim‘s Whiterun have been remade entirely within The Sims 4, thanks to the time and creativity of dedicated fans. While The Sims 4 does have some technical limitations on its residential lots that players must work around, the possibilities for fans to make their own towns and cities are nearly endless.

Rumor: The Sims 4 Remaster Details Leak Online

A known leaker reveals some alleged info on EA’s The Sims 4 remaster, but while also raising new questions about the rumored project.

Skyrim Player Remakes Riften Within The Sims 4

Though Riften is not the most populous city in Skyrim, one fan sought to remake the capital of Skyrim‘s southeastern hold in another game. On The Sims 4 subreddit, a Reddit user named DeadgirlRot shared how they crafted Riften within The Sims 4, as they utilized a 60×60 residential plot for their project. DeadgirlRot stated that plans for the Riften build began during Christmas in 2024, though they initially felt overwhelmed. Since resuming work, DeadgirlRot’s recreation of Riften was completed over several weeks. Given the 60×60 residential lot limitations, a complete replica of Riften was not possible to pull off. However, The Sims 4 recreation of Riften featured a lake in the center of town, along with the city’s marketplace and bridges that the townsfolk can interact with. Riften can be explored by searching for the Gallery ID ‘Lilithx88’ within The Sims 4.

While Riften is where Skyrim‘s Thieves Guild calls home, it is also known for other locations like The Bee and Barb Inn and the Temple of Mara. DeadgirlRot stated that one of the only furnished buildings in their Riften project was The Bee and Barb, as patrons can sit down and have a drink. Additionally, the Temple of Mara can be utilized as a wedding chapel within The Sims 4, should other players wish to use it.

In response, other Redditors complimented DeadgirlRot for her efforts and attention to detail. Even after several years, both Skyrim and The Sims 4 remain comforting games that players can return to at any point.
