MultiVersus has published a new tweet, and some players are now thinking about Barbie’s possible appearance in the game. After a long wait, MultiVersus is finally coming back on May 28. Joining the list of Super Smash Bros. clones, MultiVersus offers its twist by pitting characters from different Warner properties in battle, such as Bugs Bunny and Taz from Looney Tunes, Game of Thrones‘s Arya Stark, and even the lovable Iron Giant. MultiVersus has published a new tweet that is making some players believe that Barbie may be joining the game’s roster. With the caption “What happened in the off-season?,” recalling MultiVersus‘ unexpected hiatus, the tweet shows the answer “saw the hit movie of the summer” written in Barbie’s official font. The image has Harley Quinn, Superman, Shaggy, and Velma wearing pink clothes, with a pink house in the background, referencing the movie directed by Greta Gerwig.
MultiVersus Continues Sequence of Cryptic Tweets
MultiVersus‘ “Barbie tweet” isn’t the first tease made recently about future content players might see in Warner Bros. Interactive’s fighting game. Previously, MultiVersus released a teaser showing cel-shaded skins for Superman, LeBron James, Velma, Taz, and Jake from Adventure Time. In a second tweet, a fan found evidence that a highly requested MultiVersus skin may be coming, giving Finn the Human his iconic robotic arm and the Night Sword. In another post, the official MultiVersus Twitter suggested that Powerpuff Girls may also be on their way.
There’s no official word on Barbie’s debut in MultiVersus, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the character added to the game at some point. The flick starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling became the highest global debut for a Warner Bros. film, while at the domestic box office, it surpassed the fan-favorite The Dark Knight. As a result, Barbie’s debut would surely help attract players’ attention, potentially boosting the game’s popularity on its return by riding the wave established by the 2023 film, also making players curious about which characters MultiVersus might add in the future.
