Resident Evil Requiem fans have been trying to figure out who Leon S. Kennedy married between games, and many have settled on a theory that his wife is none other than Ashley Graham. Before the game’s release, Capcom promised that Resident Evil Requiem would close the door on some lingering plot threads from the franchise. However, the developers have also created some new ones for fans to debate.
Since the game’s release in February, Resident Evil Requiem has sold more than 6 million copies, breaking a franchise record. The game has become a huge hit with fans, and many are already wondering what’s next for the franchise. Capcom hasn’t offered many details about what it has in store, but rumors have suggested that the company is working on more remakes of previous games, including Resident Evil: Code — Veronica and Resident Evil Zero.
The Original Resident Evil Games Are Now on Steam, But With an Asterisk Attached
Capcom’s original three Resident Evil games finally come to Steam, but there are some decisions that won’t make fans very happy.
Did Leon Marry Ashley Graham Prior to Resident Evil Requiem?
In Resident Evil Requiem, Leon S. Kennedy returns as one of the game’s protagonists. Since many years have passed between Resident Evil 6 and the events in the new game, Capcom offered a new character model to reflect Leon’s age. Leon now sports a wedding ring in Resident Evil Requiem, though Capcom has offered no details about whom he married. That hasn’t stopped fans from guessing, and a viral Twitter post by user Nigkara suggests that Leon married Ashley Graham.
Ashley Graham was a major character in Resident Evil 4, where she was the daughter of the President of the United States. Prior to the game’s events, Ashley was kidnapped by Los Iluminados, and Leon was hired to rescue her. Ashley and Leon have an interesting bond throughout the narrative, and by the end of the game, the former is clearly flirting with the latter. The 2023 Resident Evil 4 remake increased the romantic tension between Leon and Ashley, so it wouldn’t be all that surprising if Capcom decided to pair the two.
Nigkara’s theory boils down to a deleted image from the files of Resident Evil 4 remake. The image appears to be an older-looking take on Ashley Graham. While Ashley was a major character in Resident Evil 4, she’s largely disappeared since. That raises questions about why Capcom would have designed an aged-up version of the character, and why the image was deleted in the first place. Since development of Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil Requiem would have overlapped, Nigkara suggests that the photo might have been a teaser. Capcom has teased future plans in Resident Evil games, so it’s not inconceivable that this was planned before being removed.

If the Resident Evil Requiem developers did pair Leon with an existing character, Ashley seems like the most plausible guess. Of course, it’s just as possible that Leon married someone who has never been introduced in the series. It would be strange for the developers to keep that a secret, but if his wife has some kind of tie to another existing character, it could make sense. Until Capcom offers its own explanation for who Leon married, fans will just have to speculate.
