Sony Clears Out the PSVR2 Bundle at Almost Free Compared to Launch Pricing, No More Excuses Not to Try It This Black Friday

Virtually nobody disputes the fact that VR gaming is a truly incredible experience. (See what we did there?) The thing that’s kept some gamers away, however, has been the price tag. The PlayStation VR 2 bundle with Horizon: Call of the Mountain was a great example when it was first released with a stiff $600 price tag. Yes, cool, but that’s a big price tag. But now that price tag has been slashed fully in half to just $299 at Amazon for Black Friday? It’s time to dive into VR gaming with both feet.

This is an all-inclusive bundle that has everything you need not only to play the top-tier Horizon: Call of the Mountain, but any VR game that’s compatible with the PlayStation 5 and the VR2 headset. It comes with the headset and two VR2 Sense controllers, with haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, precision tracking, and finger-touch detection in two ergonomically pleasing controllers. Of course, the full version of Horizon: Call of the Mountain is also included, so you can lose yourself in Sony’s showcase VR game.

Plug, Pair, and Play

You would be excused for assuming a VR headset and controller setup would be a heavy lift to install, even before you learn how to play. But the VR2 goes from unboxing to full-on gaming in no time flat. It’s a simple process of plugging into the PlayStation 5, pairing the two Sense controllers, and a quick automatic system update. From there, all that’s left for you to do is enjoy the incredible VR gaming experience.

The VR2 headset is a big move up from the original. It’s lighter and more comfortable to prevent the neck fatigue that many users complained about with the first PlayStation VR headset, and issues with motion sickness caused by subpar graphic performance have been fully addressed, so you can play Horizon: Call of the Mountain and any other VR PlayStation game longer and more comfortably.

The headset improvements include 4x better resolution, with two OLED displays inside the headset delivering 4K images at a smooth 120 fps that keeps you from getting queasy. There’s also 3D Audio Immersion with dynamic adjustment — think of the spatial audio listening experience you get from higher-end headphones and earbuds — which makes your VR gaming experience even more realistic.

Gateway VR Game

Sony knew what it was doing when it built its updated VR headset around Horizon: Call of the Mountain. As virtual-gaming experiences go, this is the game that’s packed probably more than any other. Climbing huge peaks, leaping from cliffs, battling fearsome machines — all in truly gripping virtual reality with 3D Audio Immersion and advanced haptics in your controllers — is the ideal game to get you hooked on VR gaming and ready to download other titles like Gran Turismo 7, Resident Evil Village VR MODE, and more.

The $600 price tag that kept you away from the amazing experience of VR gaming is a long-distant memory now. In fact, it’s been cut in half for Black Friday 2025 at Amazon, with the PlayStation VR 2 bundle with Horizon: Call of the Mountain listed at just $299.
