Adrian has been writing, critiquing, and thinking about games since he first picked up an N64 controller many years ago. These days he writes reviews, news, and features for Game Rant and believes games should be held to the same artistic standards as books, movies, and television shows. When he’s not writing for Game Rant, Adrian writes even more reviews for Sirus Gaming and likes to get nerdy about tech and retro games at HackerNoon. Outside the gaming world, he spends plenty of time enjoying movies or listening to every genre of music under the sun. Star Citizen‘s long-awaited single-player companion, Squadron 42, is now available to wishlist on Steam ahead of its planned Q2 2027 release. For fans of the Star Citizen project, which has been in development for well over a decade, its appearance on Steam with a real launch window is a small but hopefully concrete sign of progress.

Star Citizen: Squadron 42 Can Now Be Wishlisted on Steam

Cloud Imperium Games has now opened Steam wishlisting for Squadron 42, with both the studio and storefront listing pointing toward a Q2 2027 launch. The official Steam page includes new screenshots, achievements, cloud saves, and controller support, while the minimum specifications currently call for 16GB of RAM, 8GB of VRAM, and 150GB of storage. Cloud Imperium describes the upcoming sci-fi adventure as casting players as a rookie UEE Navy recruit caught in a sprawling galactic war, mixing space combat, first-person ground missions, stealth, exploration, and “cinematic” sequences over a decade in the making. What’s more, the game’s new trailer also showcases three and a half minutes of gameplay and story, giving players a significant look at what is to come. Interestingly, the new Steam listing also follows a recent Star Citizen development update that offered more details on Squadron 42‘s progress, suggesting Cloud Imperium really is moving the campaign toward a full release.
