Thanks to a popular Steam promotion, users are able to download and play a popular co-op action RPG completely free of charge, at least until a specific time on June 1. It supports co-op up to 6 players, meaning Steam users should definitely invite their friends to download the game in question, Path of Exile 2, and give it a try as well.
However, fans should be aware that this is a Steam Free Weekend Promotion, not the more popular Steam Free-to-Keep Promotion. The two are essentially the inverse of each other. Steam’s Free-to-Keep Promotion lets users claim a game until a certain date for free and then keep it forever, while the Free Weekend Promotion (typically hosted on the weekend, as the promotion title implies) is only free for a limited time.
Steam’s Free-to-Keep Promotion Has 5* Upcoming 100% Free Games for June 2026
Steam’s Free-to-Keep Promotion is currently slated to get at least five games in June, although more are on the way and one has a slight caveat.
Save 100% on Path of Exile 2 on Steam
- Download Path of Exile 2 on Steam for free
- It expires on June 1 at 1 pm PT/4 pm ET
- You cannot beat this game before it expires on June 1.
For those unfamiliar, Path of Exile 2 is obviously a sequel to the original dark fantasy action RPG that focused on a hardcore loot-driven formula with weightier combat, in-depth character customization, and a more cinematic campaign. Anyone who has played a Diablo game will be familiar with its gameplay loop, as it has similar (though not exactly the same) classes, skill trees, and abilities, with an emphasis on endgame builds and grinds.
Steam’s Free-to-Keep Games Are Also Available Now
Path of Exile 2 can only be played for free until June 1, but there are a couple of Free-to-Keep Steam games on offer right now, too. IF claimed before the dates below, they can be permanently added to digital libraries. The first, expiring May 30, is a simplistic endless runner game titled Dino running from a Furry where the entire gameplay loop is explained with the title. The second, expiring on June 3, is a Hot Wheels-esque multiplayer racing game titled Drift86 that focuses on drifting and building combos.

Overall, it’s clear that Path of Exile 2 is the best game of the three, so it’s worth spending some time with it this weekend. If you enjoy it, there’s a 50% discount on the Early Access Support Pack, bringing it down to just $15. However, it’s uncertain how long this deal will last, so if it clicks with you during this promotional period, hop on it sooner rather than later.
