Steam‘s Free-to-Keep Promotion has been largely quiet since the end of August, just recently adding two new free games to the list, and now adding a third freebie for a popular zombie game. Steam’s Free-to-Keep Promotion lets fans claim paid, premium games (and add-ons) completely free of charge, as long as they are claimed within a certain promotional period, and the popular zombie game freebie is available from now until September 24.

The new freebie follows two other recent additions to the Steam free game promotion, and both of those are also still available to claim as of this writing. Until September 22, Steam users can claim Crystal Crisis for free, which is described as Tetris with fighting game mechanics. Until September 23, Steam users can also claim Space Menace for free: a sci-fi space RTS game where players navigate 1 ship through various top-down 2D missions. A third item has now joined the Steam Free-to-Keep Promotion.

Dying Light: The Beast DLC Available for Free on Steam

The latest addition to Steam’s Free-to-Keep Promotion is the Discharge Weapon Pack for Dying Light: The Beast, and this typically $4.99 DLC will be free until September 24. As DLC, it does mean that Steam users need to own Dying Light: The Beast to take advantage of this freebie, which in and of itself is a celebration of Harran from Dying Light 1. The promotion, as initiated by publisher Techland, also celebrates the 1-year anniversary of Dying Light: The Beast since it initially launched on September 18 last year, and fans can reasonably expect more from Techland soon as well.

Find the odd one out before the timer hits zero.

Those who claim this freebie will get the DLC immediately, as long as it is claimed before September 24. The Dying Light: The Beast – Discharge Weapon Pack gives players a small set of themed gear, centered around the Discharge Machete, an electrified weapon salvaged from Harran with a blade that crackles with energy. The DLC also includes the VNC Weapon Charm, giving players an additional cosmetic item to equip alongside the machete. PlayStation and Xbox users will also be able to claim this DLC.

As fans know, Dying Light: The Beast brings back Kyle Crane, the protagonist of the original Dying Light, as the playable main character. The game moves the action away from Harran and into the Castor Woods region, where Crane’s attempt to find revenge and answers leads him into a new outbreak filled with Infected and other threats. Dying Light: The Beast also expands the series’ parkour and melee-focused gameplay with a larger emphasis on Crane’s transformation and more powerful Beast abilities.

For anyone who already owns Dying Light: The Beast, the Discharge Weapon Pack is an easy free addition. Those who haven’t should consider it, as Dying Light: The Beast is a fun zombie sandbox, but it bears repeating that time is limited. Steam users have until September 24 to claim the DLC for free, while PlayStation and Xbox players will also be able to pick it up through their respective platforms. Once claimed, the Discharge Weapon Pack stays with the account, so there is little reason to wait: add now, play later, save $5.
