Steam users have yet another free game to add to their digital libraries, as Crowalt: Traces of the Lost Colony is free to claim until Sunday, March 9. There have been free games given away regularly on Steam since the start of the new year, with users of the platform almost always having something free to add to their collection.

There have been all kinds of Steam free game trials and new free-to-play additions in 2026, but there have also been free games that users can keep forever. Earlier in March, Just Move: Clean City Messy Battle was free on Steam, giving users the chance to add a top-down shooter game to their digital libraries at no cost. The Just Move: Clean City Messy Battle free giveaway window has since closed, but there is now a different game Steam users can snag.

Best Co-Op Games On Steam To Play Right Now

From online multiplayer titles to local masterpieces, Steam has plenty of fantastic co-op games that should be played in 2026.

Crowalt: Traces of the Lost Colony is Currently Free on Steam

Until March 9 at 12:00pm CST, Steam users can claim Crowalt: Traces of the Lost Colony for free on Steam. Crowalt: Traces of the Lost Colony is a mystery adventure game that has Monkey Island vibes, and was inspired by the disappearance of the Roanoke Colony. In it, players take on the role of an adventurer who is trying to solve the mystery of a colony that mysteriously disappeared two hundred years ago, with the only clue being “Crowalt” carved in a tree (not unlike the word “Croatoan” that was found carved in a tree at Roanoke).

Taking its cues from old-school adventure games like the aforementioned Monkey Island series, Crowalt: Traces of the Lost Colony uses classic point-and-click gameplay, with players collecting items to solve puzzles and interacting with various NPCs that they encounter on their journey. Talking to NPCs and overcoming the game’s various challenges will be necessary if players hope to solve the mystey of the titular lost colony. The game released in 2022 and only has 80 reviews counted so far, but the reviews it does have are strong enough to earn it a “Very Positive” overall rating on Steam.

Crowalt: Traces of the Lost Colony isn’t the only free game PC gamers can claim right now, but they have to be willing to venture to other digital storefronts, like the Epic Games Store. Every week, the Epic Games Store has new freebies for PC gamers to claim and keep forever. At the time of this writing, the current Epic Games Store freebies are Turnip Boy Robs a Bank and the Raistlin’s Renown Pack for Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms. Turnip Boy Robs a Bank is a roguelite inspired by classic Zelda, while the Raistlin’s Renown Pack is a $100 value for the otherwise free-to-play Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realm that includes playable characters, platinum chests, and more.

Epic Games Store Free Games Right Now

Whereas Crowalt is free on Steam until March 9, Turnip Boy Robs a Bank and the Raistlin’s Renown Pack for Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms are free on the Epic Games Store until Thursday, March 12 at 10:00am CST. At that point, they will be cycled out of the freebie window and replaced by the next Epic Games Store free games.

The next Epic Games Store free games are Cozy Grove and Isonzo. Cozy Grove is a life-sim game set on a haunted island, while Isonzo is a World War 1 FPS. Both games earned mixed reviews at the time of their respective releases, but since you can get them for free, there’s no harm in claiming the games and coming to your own conclusions. Cozy Grove and Isonzo will be free on the Epic Games Store until March 19 at 10:00am CST, but we don’t know what free games will be replacing them just yet.
