Stellar Blade is a forthcoming action-adventure RPG being developed by Shift Up. Initially announced in 2019, (under the working title Project Eve before being updated in 2022 to the current name) and delayed from its original planned launch in 2023, Stellar Blade is now set to arrive this Spring. At the PlayStation State of Play on January 31, 2024, a new trailer was shown which delved further into the third-person action-adventure title set in the far future that pits its protagonist, Eve, against a legion of strange and hostile aliens who have devastated Earth.
Based on this, along with various other elements and details seen in the trailer and other official information, Stellar Blade‘s Eve looks to share many of her character aspects and traits with Guerrilla Games’ Horizon series’ heroine, Aloy. Both appear to serve similar roles, characterizations, and functions within their respective worlds, and thus, it seems like Stellar Blade will have fans traveling down a similar path as Aloy when controlling Eve.
Stellar Blade currently has a release date set for April 26, 2024, as a PlayStation 5 exclusive.

Eve’s Role in Stellar Blade Seems to Closely Resemble That of Horizon’s Aloy
Stellar Blade’s Story and Framework Similarities to Horizon’s
As described in its official synopsis on the PlayStation site, Stellar Blade promises players that they will:
Save humanity from extinction in this electrifying story-driven action adventure.
The future of humanity is balanced on the edge of a blade. Ravaged by strange, powerful creatures, Earth has been abandoned, and what is left of the decimated human race has fled to a Colony in outer space.
After traveling from the Colony, Paratrooper Eve arrives on the desolate remains of our planet with a clear-cut mission: to save humankind by reclaiming Earth from the NA:tive – the malevolent force that has devastated it.
But as Eve pieces together the mysteries of the past…she realizes that her mission is far from straightforward. In fact, almost nothing is as it seems.
Based on all that, much of it can be said to be quite similar to the general setup and setting of the Horizon titles. Each takes place in a futuristic and dystopian sci-fi setting where the planet has been overrun by menacing inhuman forces, and their respective protagonists have been built, born, and/or trained specifically to combat the growing danger. Although Stellar Blade is far from an exact copy of Horizon, many of the familiarities between them are still fairly readily apparent.
Stellar Blade’s Eve and Horizon’s Aloy Look to be Two Sides of the Same Coin
Positioned as strong and well-rounded female characters whose missions are to save the world from the group of terrifying enemies that threaten to make what’s left of humanity extinct, there are a number of clear parallels between Stellar Blade‘s Eve and Aloy in Horizon. As a Paratrooper, Eve is implied to be uniquely skilled and equipped to deal with the exact situation seen in the plot summary, and will likely utilize all her abilities, as well as any allies gained along the way, to neutralize the alien NA:tives.
In much the same fashion, Horizon‘s Aloy was purposefully cloned and brought into its version of post-apocalyptic Earth to comprehend the full extent of the problem at hand, and formulate a solution to it. Both Aloy and Eve appear to be shouldering the weight of this responsibility in this regard. It will be interesting to see what other similarities and differences between the two become apparent when Stellar Blade releases.
