Street Fighter 6 fans will soon be able to claim a free movie-inspired Zangief cosmetic using a new official redemption code, just in time for the upcoming film’s theatrical release. This latest Street Fighter 6 freebie also arrives as part of a larger celebration that connects Capcom’s enduring fighting game to its first live-action feature since 2009.
Capcom’s Street Fighter 6 launched in 2023 and has since become one of the company’s biggest modern successes, passing 7 million copies sold worldwide earlier this year. Last year, the fighter even expanded to Nintendo Switch 2 as a launch title, while its competitive scene remains incredibly active more than three years after launch. That staying power has given Capcom plenty of opportunities to keep building on the game through new fighters, events, collaborations, and free rewards as Year 4 continues. With the Street Fighter movie now approaching theaters, SF6 has naturally become one of the main places where Capcom is celebrating the franchise’s latest milestone with new freebies.
Street Fighter 6 Players Can Claim a Free Zangief Movie Cosmetic
- Redemption Code: SF8T-QWM9-PTNT-VQN3
IGN recently revealed a new Street Fighter 6 code that activates on October 16, the same date as the movie’s release, and lets players claim a Zangief cosmetic inspired by Olivier Richters’ version of the wrestler in the upcoming Street Fighter film. Capcom has also prepared movie-inspired looks for E. Honda and Dhalsim, though it will reveal their respective codes separately as part of a wider promotional scavenger hunt. The Zangief reward will be available on all platforms, making it an easy freebie for anyone who already owns Street Fighter 6.

Zangief isn’t the first fighter to receive something from Street Fighter‘s ongoing promotional campaign, either. Capcom previously offered a Guile movie color through Twitch Drops, while M. Bison received his own commemorative movie color through a separate promotion. Players might enjoy seeing how the movie adapts these characters for the big screen, with new looks and high-profile actors, and then bring versions of those designs back into their own matches. What’s more, for a fighting game built around such instantly recognizable characters, this promotion might feel more like a natural crossover than simply putting the movie’s logo somewhere in the Battle Hub.
Directed by Kitao Sakurai, the new Street Fighter movie arrives in theaters on October 16 and takes the franchise back to 1993, following Ryu and Ken as Chun-Li recruits them for another World Warrior Tournament. Its cast includes notable actors such as Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Cody Rhodes as Guile, Jason Momoa as Blanka, and Richters as Zangief. The production team has also emphasized recreating each Street Fighter character’s recognizable fighting style, which matters a lot for a series where a spinning piledriver or Sonic Boom can be almost as important to a fighter’s identity as their costume.
There is still plenty happening inside Street Fighter 6 beyond the movie celebration. Capcom continues to support the game through Year 4, with more characters and updates keeping its roster moving forward as the title enters another year of competition. That makes the free Zangief reward a relatively small addition, but it also reflects just how active Street Fighter 6 remains three years after launch. Between new fighters, major tournaments, the Switch 2 version, and a Hollywood movie arriving on October 16, Capcom currently has plenty of reasons to keep players stepping back into the ring.
