- Capcom has announced that the new fighter Ed will be coming to Street Fighter 6 on February 27.
- Ed, who made his debut in Street Fighter 5 as a post-launch DLC fighter, uses purple Psycho powers in his moveset.
- Along with Ed’s release, there will be a Fighter Pass available with Ed-themed rewards, including gear, a photo frame, emote, music, stickers, titles, and a special in-game phone wallpaper.
Capcom has revealed the release date of its new psycho-powered fighter Ed, coming to Street Fighter 6 on February 27. Since its launch last summer, Street Fighter 6 fans have already seen two new fighters join its roster in Rashid and A.K.I. After Ed makes his arrival later this month, franchise legend Akuma is set to join the roster as well, rounding out Street Fighter 6‘s first wave of post-launch fighters.
Ed may seem familiar to fans who’ve played Street Fighter 5, as he made his franchise debut in the game as a post-launch DLC fighter. Part of the insidious Shadaloo organization under figures like M Bison and Street Fighter 6‘s JP, Ed is able to utilize purple Psycho powers in his moveset. These were first showcased several weeks ago when Capcom dropped Ed’s cinematic reveal trailer, which showed him fighting on Metro City’s subway where he used Psycho powers to grab and sling an adversary to the ground.
Street Fighter 6 Gives New Look at DLC Character Akuma
Capcom gives Street Fighter 6 fans a new look at the upcoming DLC character Akuma before his addition to the fighting game in 2024.
That reveal trailer gave Ed a February release window and now Capcom has revealed his actual release date, February 27. The psycho-powered boxer’s arrival in Street Fighter 6 will be preceded by a small “Ed Arrives” Fighter Pass. As fans await Ed, they’ll be able to use this pass to unlock a handful of Ed-themed rewards, such as a set of gear for players’ avatars, including a full green boxing outfit. Also available in the Fighter Pass is an Ed photo frame, emote, music, stickers, titles, and a “Neo Shadaloo” in-game phone wallpaper.
One of the more exciting Fighter Pass unlocks for longtime Capcom fans is the addition of the 1991 sidescroller Captain Commando, which players can earn and then play in Street Fighter 6‘s online Battle Hub area. This won’t be the only change coming to the Battle Hub, though. Ed will arrive two days after Capcom Cup X, which starts on February 16 and ends on February 25. The esports event will decorate the Battle Hub by dimming the lights and giving the online space an orange glow. Judging by the trailer, Capcom Cup decor will temporarily permeate Street Fighter 6‘s Macho Ring stage as well.
What’s Next For Street Fighter 6 After Ed?
Now that Ed is slated for later this month, Akuma is the fourth and final fighter set to come to Street Fighter 6 as part of its first wave of DLC. Seeing that there were just two months separating the releases of Rashid and A.K.I, fans would be wise to expect to learn more about Akuma sometime later this Spring, around April. It will also be interesting to find out if Capcom has even more DLC characters planned for Street Fighter 6 beyond Akuma, but nothing has been confirmed thus far.
