Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment have a ton of plans for The Division 2 in 2026 as a new content roadmap was revealed alongside a huge 10-year anniversary celebration, and a tease for a brand-new expansion. Originally launching on March 8, 2016, Ubisoft’s The Division franchise has continued to grow and evolve over the past 10 years. With The Division 2 still going strong and with plans for more upcoming content as well as a third game, Ubisoft is celebrating the franchise with a big anniversary event this month.
While there was a moment in time when it didn’t look like The Division 2 would make it to the franchise’s 10th anniversary, the game has been enjoying a renaissance of sorts over the past 2 years. The game’s population has continued to rise, thanks in large part to continued seasonal content, last year’s Battle for Brooklyn expansion pack, as well as the promise of upcoming content including the highly anticipated Survivors mode to The Division 2, a reimagining of the fan favorite Survival game mode from the first game. Even with a third game currently in development, there’s plenty of content on the horizon to keep The Division 2 fans busy.
‘Shaping Up to Be a Monster’ Ubisoft Sets High Expectations for The Division 3
While not much is yet known about Tom Clancy’s The Division 3, Ubisoft gave fans an encouraging update and that it’s shaping up “to be a monster.”
The Division 2 Celebrates 10 Years of the Franchise
March 8, 2026, is the 10-year anniversary of the Tom Clancy’s The Division franchise, a major milestone that Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft are preparing to celebrate. In a recent livestream event, Massive Entertainment revealed all of its plans for the celebration, which kicked off on March 3 and runs until April 2. The Anniversary Season arrives with a new event pass full of Tom Clancy-inspired outfits, inspired by characters like Cole Walker from Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Nomad from Ghost Recon Wildlands, Archer and Kestral from Splinter Cell Conviction, as well as Doc and IQ from Rainbow Six Siege.
During the Anniversary celebration, Ambush and Assult Global Events are making their return from the original game, alternating each week and offering their own mask rewards to earn. Players can also earn Exotic, Legacy and Enhanced Legacy Caches, with new gear to obtain like the Big Alejandro exotic LMG, Harrier Pride exotic backpack, Gear Shift Named LMG, and the Impetus Wyvern Wear Named Chest. Seasonal items from the Burden of Truth through Mutiny will also make their return, giving players another chance to obtain named and exotic loot they may have missed out on. Finally, all players who log in during the Anniversary month will score a free hoodie featuring the studio’s Tommy the Bear mascot.
However, that wasn’t the only big announcement from Ubisoft. During the livestream, the team also revealed Realism Mode, a way for players to experience the game from a fresh perspective. Essentially, the Warlords of New York expansion for The Division 2 will be free to play during the Anniversary Event and with it, players can opt into Realism Mode, which reduces the interface, makes ammo more scarce, and adds longer cooldowns to agent abilities. Gear and weapon bonuses are now more important, impacting the speed and survivability of players, while fights are faster and deadlier. In addition, The Division 2 is getting a visual makeover with improved lighting, refined shadows and fog, material updates to help make surfaces more realistic, and sharper detailing.

In addition to all of this, 2026 will be filled with more content, including Year 8, Season 1: Rise Up in April. Massive is also planning on adding highly requested features such as PvP balancing and updates, Crossplay, and new classified missions to tackle. Alongside Paradise Lost in The Division 2, Massive also teased a brand-new Incursion missing coming to the game later in 2026. Survivors is also another big Division 2 game mode set to launch later in 2026, adding winter survival to the Washington D.C. area.
As if that wasn’t enough, Massive Entertainment revealed a big surprise by confirming another new expansion is set to launch in 2026 as well. Not much was confirmed about it, though the creepy teaser seemed to show off what appeared to be the hand of a dead agent in Central Park. Footsteps could be heard approaching the agent, leaving fans to speculate that it could be Hunter-focused content, with the trailer teasing a new threat emerging.
