The Elder Scrolls: Shadows of Oblivion has been officially confirmed to launch in November 2026, giving fans of the series something fresh to look forward to. Whenever there’s a new Elder Scrolls release, it’s always an exciting time, and with Shadows of Oblivion, there’s plenty on the way.

It’s a testament to the quality of Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls games that the series remains as popular as it is, despite no new mainline release in almost 15 years. Oblivion Remastered shadow-dropped last year, allowing gamers to relive a classic, but it’s not quite the same as a brand-new game. Bethesda has re-released Skyrim multiple times over the years, so much so that it has become a meme in the gaming community. Even outside of the main games, there are other projects to keep fans engaged with the series.

This new Elder Scrolls release is one of the biggest expansions for Betrayal of the Second Era to date. It’s focused on the Daedric princes, introducing Hermaeus Mora, Sheogorath, Mehrunes Dagon, Azura, and Saunguine, each of whom “comes with something akin to a side quest, offering a blessing and a curse.” Chip Theory Games promises “so many ways to adjust the gameplay experience,” plus a brand-new hedonism mechanic (with its own physical chips and tokens to play with). The synopsis for Elder Scrolls: Shadows of Oblivion is as follows:

The Daedric princes rule their respective planes of Oblivion, and their influence over mortals cannot be understated. Whether summoned to Tamriel for worship or study, these entities of great power will frequently strike deals and make pacts with those who dare.

Such a bargain is laced with poison and sure to bring misery, but a serious adventurer doesn’t dismiss any potential advantage, and the prospect of wielding Daedric power is intoxicating!

Elder Scrolls: Betrayal of the Second Era – Shadows of Oblivion Key Features

  • Daedric prince-focused expansion
  • Enemy chips
  • Eight skill dice
  • Eight fatigue dice
  • New hedonism mechanic

The base Elder Scrolls: Betrayal of the Second Era board game costs $225 on Gamefound. All of its expansions can be purchased separately, with Shadows of Oblivion priced at $25. While Chip Theory Games strives to ship all orders on time, it stresses that the upcoming Heroes of Tamriel releases are part of “our biggest fulfillment of any project in our history.” This includes not just individual backers, but retailers too, so hopefully the company can get the game into buyers’ hands as soon as possible.

After years of silence, Bethesda appears to be gearing up to discuss more official news on The Elder Scrolls 6. A couple of months ago, Bethesda and Xbox teased The Elder Scrolls 6‘s subtitle, leaving fans to ponder what it could be. After almost 15 years, fans have been extremely patient, and hopefully 2027 will be the year when Bethesda is ready to reveal what it has been working on.
