The Elder Scrolls: Summerset is officially on the way and will be available for fans to pick up very soon. The last Elder Scrolls title to feature the home of the Altmer was Elder Scrolls Online, but that’s all about to change with this upcoming release.

Bethesda has kept the Elder Scrolls community waiting for a new mainline release. Despite releasing Oblivion Remastered last year, it has been 15 years since the studio released Skyrim. ZeniMax Online Studios launched The Elder Scrolls Online in 2014, but as an MMO, it offers a totally different experience from a single-player RPG. Re-releases of Skyrim can only carry the franchise for so long, and fans are desperate for any new content they can get from The Elder Scrolls.

Elder Scrolls Betrayal of the Second Era - SummersetImage via Chip Theory Games

Summerset is one of the major region expansions coming to The Elder Scrolls: Betrayal of the Second Era board game by Chip Theory Games. Early backers received the base game last year, and the creator has announced multiple expansions via GameFound since. The Elder Scrolls: Summerset is set to ship to backers in November 2026, alongside several other major expansions announced at the same time.

Find the odd one out before the timer hits zero.

While most Betrayal of the Second Era expansions are content expansions, The Elder Scrolls: Summerset is a region expansion. This makes it even bigger than the other additions coming to the game in the near future. The expansion comes with two new classes: Mages and Assassins. It also features two new skill lines: Aedric Spear and Assassination. Perhaps most exciting is the addition of magical anomalies, which can trigger unpredictable events during gameplay before players have a chance to prepare. It’s going to be a very exciting expansion for Betrayal of the Second Era, coming with a bunch of physical accessories including a clash mat, an overland map, enemy and quest chips, skill dice, overland encounter cards, and more.

Summerset, one of the most beautiful places in Tamriel, is under the control of the Aldmeri Dominion. A land of magic and mystery, there is no end to what adventurers will discover. Mages wielding Aedric spears roam the province, and their insight may prove invaluable. Assassins on the hunt for their marks have also been seen at night; maybe their skills will prove useful in these dark times.

Elder Scrolls: Betrayal of the Second Era – Summerset Key Features

  • New region of Summerset added to Betrayal of the Second Era
  • New Mage and Assassin classes
  • New Aedric Spear and Assassination skill lines
  • Magical anomalies change the gameplay in unexpected ways
  • New quests and enemies
  • New overland encounters

Betrayal of the Second Era players have a lot to look forward to next month as Chip Theory Games ships out the upcoming expansions. The other region expansion aside from Summerset is The Elder Scrolls: Elsweyr, which will include the land of the Khajiit. Buying all the new expansions together costs $155 in the New Gameplay Bundle, while The Elder Scrolls: Summerset alone costs $45.

While Bethesda may not be quite ready to discuss The Elder Scrolls 6, it’s good to see that fans still have other media to enjoy in the meantime. Betrayal of the Second Era‘s expansions are on the way, and The Elder Scrolls Online is still getting regular free content. And while hopefully 2027 may yield a little more in the way of TES 6, it’s far from disastrous for the franchise if fans have to wait a little longer.
