007 First Light still has a little over a month left before it launches on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, but the Indonesian Game Rating System (IGRS) has accidentally released spoilers that appear to reveal the game’s ending. Developer IO Interactive’s James Bond-led title brings series fans a compelling prequel with 007 First Light, but those looking forward to the game will want to be extra cautious when surfing social media for the next month.
The world of James Bond games has been lying dormant for over a decade, but 007 First Light aims to put an end to the long-running drought. This time around, MI6 agent James Bond is a less-experienced and more reckless version of himself than a lot of fans are used to seeing. 007 First Light marks an intriguing fresh start, but an unfortunate mishap has caused some major spoilers to hit the internet.
007 First Light Reveals James Bond’s Major Villain, and He Already Stacks Up Against The Greats
007 First Light finally unveils the next major villain set to antagonize James Bond, and he already stacks up against the franchise’s best.
The Indonesian Game Rating System Seems to Have Leaked 007 First Light’s Ending
An IGRS security mistake was discovered over the weekend, revealing that important details regarding 007 First Light were left unprotected. The leak contains over an hour’s worth of gameplay footage, and it is believed that the game’s ending is included in these clips that are now circulating across the web. Before a game’s release, developers have to submit their projects to regulatory boards in order to get ratings classifications. This requires a lot of sensitive in-game information to be included in these submissions. Unfortunately, the IGRS wasn’t as secure as it should have been. With the 007 First Light release date now on the horizon, these leaks mark a major road bump ahead of its launch.
007 First Light Isn’t the Only Game That the IGRS Has Leaked
In addition to the 007 First Light leaks, in-game footage of Bandai Namco’s upcoming Echoes of Aincrad has also been revealed. The clips in question show both gameplay and important cutscenes that could potentially spoil parts of the story. There was also evidence pointing to the long-awaited Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag remake. Assassin’s Creed fans hoping for footage of the remake will end up empty-handed, though.
IO Interactive Has Yet to Respond to the Leaks
At the time of writing this article, IO Interactive has neither confirmed nor denied whether these 007 First Light leaks actually spoil the game’s ending or not. 007 First Light‘s story is the most important aspect of the game. The past week has been rocky for the James Bond origin story in general. A few days ago, IO Interactive delayed the 007 First Light Switch 2 release date. Instead of launching alongside the other console versions and PC, the Switch 2 port is now expected to arrive sometime in the summer.

These IGRS leaks are disappointing not only for IO Interactive, but also for the fans who are eagerly awaiting a new James Bond game. Of course, spoilers can be avoided, but the nature of social media can sometimes make that easier said than done. Until 007 First Light launches, gamers anticipating James Bond’s origin story should steer clear of any footage that they come across on the internet unless it’s officially from IO Interactive.
