The TV adaptation of James S. A. Corey’s The Expanse debuted on Syfy back in 2025 before the series finale was eventually released on Amazon in 2022. Many fans have understandably wanted more of The Expanse, with the series being extremely popular for its specific brand of hard sci-fi, and now they have something to look forward to.
Of course, it’s worth noting that The Expanse is a novel and/or TV adaptation; it has expanded into a full-blown transmedia universe. 2023’s Expanse: A Telltale Series is proof enough of that, with GameRant writing in its Expanse: A Telltale Series Episode 1 review that it “does an excellent job of engrossing fans new and old in both its source material and Telltale’s trademark storytelling.” Its transmedia universe is set to expand in Spring 2027 with the release of The Expanse: Osiris Reborn.
The Expanse: Osiris Reborn Gets New Trailer, Affirms Release Date
Recently reaffirmed to release in Spring 2027, Owlcat Games released a brand-new trailer for The Expanse: Osiris Reborn. It’s relatively short, coming in at 90 seconds, but shows a mission taking place on the moon of Ganymede where players, alongside their twin, infiltrate a base to get back stolen data from Pinkwater Station. In it, players control a customizable Pinkwater mercenary who can be joined by two squadmates who operate similarly to Mass Effect companions. As players pick up more squadmates throughout the game, they’ll learn more about their past, their motives, and their loyalty.

Find the odd one out before the timer hits zero.
Fulfilling that beloved sci-fi game genre, largely heralded by Mass Effect, is no easy task, but The Expanse‘s legacy combined with solid gameplay and story could go a long way in making it more than just a “game like Mass Effect.” In general, it gets player expression right: players can create an Earther, Martian, or Belter captain; customize their weapons, abilities, and squad synergy; and make choices that impact relationships, political factions, missions, and the overall story.
Owlcat Games has also confirmed all 7 companions of The Expanse: Osiris Reborn:
- J, Executive Officer—Player-Twin, impulsive but loyal
- Teo, Doctor—Combat Medic, loud and boisterous
- Michael, Gunner—Mercenary, Principled but troubled
- Zafar, Mechanical Engineer—Engineer, Calm and Collected
- Regina, Liaison Officer—Sniper and Infiltrator, Guarded
- Aleesha, Electronic Warfare Specialist—Hacker, Intelligent and loves a challenge
- Polly, Shipgirl—Support, Youthful and Optimistic (for now)

Ultimately, it remains to be seen how the upcoming game is received by gamers and by fans of the wider franchise, though previews of The Expanse: Osiris Reborn trend positively. At least on paper, though, it seems to be a solid expanse of The Expanse and one worth watching until the franchise returns to TV, movies, or whatever lies beyond.
