Sony is expected to reveal the free PS Plus games for March 2026 on February 25, but a reliable source has leaked one of the games ahead of time. And unfortunately, it seems the trend where the PS Plus free games suffer is going to continue.

In recent months, the PS Plus free games—also known as the Essential tier—have been rather lackluster. They seem to target very specific niches with okay-to-lackluster games; for example, the headlining game for the PS Plus free games for February 2026 was Undisputed. It’s a fine boxing game, one with mixed-to-average reviews, but the bigger issue is the lack of appeal. If someone doesn’t like boxing, then there’s literally no point for them to check out a mid experience. And while the leaked PS Plus game reviewed better on Metacritic, it still falls into that hyper-specific niche.

According to Billbil-kun, whose track record is impeccable when it comes to leaks, the headlining PS Plus free game for March 2026 is PGA Tour 2K25. Sales obviously show how popular sports games are, but if someone wants to play a game like PGA Tour 2K25, then they probably already have. If someone doesn’t, this means that there’s little reason to check it out. For those who do, though, it is a better all-around game than Undisputed. To be clear, PGA Tour 2K25 is a solid game, but it’s not the best pick for PS Plus subscribers. PGA Tour 2K25 did get some flak for microtransactions, technical annoyances, and its progression grind, but the core gameplay and simulation experience, from realistic swings to fun multiplayer features, were praised by fans.

PS Plus Essential, Extra, and Premium subscribers will be able to claim it, alongside at least two other games, beginning on March 3 (and until April 7). Fans will likely need to wait for the official announcement to see what else PS Plus is offering in March. In the meantime, they also have until March 3 to claim the current free game selection.

PS Plus Subscribers Can Claim 4 Free Games Until March 3

  • Undisputed
  • Subnautica: Below Zero
  • Ultros
  • Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown

Undisputed is a boxing simulator, Subnautica: Below Zero is a sequel to the beloved game (ahead of the highly anticipated Subnautica 2), Ultros is a trippy Metroidvania, and Ace Combat 7 is a solid combat flight sim. Fans have been able to claim them for a few weeks now, before the recent addition of the PS Plus Extra games for February. Those were much better, continuing the trend where PS Plus Extra dominates and PS Plus Essential/Premium flounder. Those games included the following: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, Neva, Season: A Letter to the Future, Monster Hunter Stories, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, Venba, Echoes of the End, and Rugby 25.

It’s one thing that PS Plus Extra beats both the Essential and Premium tiers in volume (combined), but it’s another thing that the general quality is higher, too. Appealing to a wide variety of gamers is important, but that’s easier when PS Plus Extra drops around 10 games, while Essential is just 3 and Premium is 1 every so often.

Early PS Plus Reveals

PGA Tour 2K25 isn’t the only known game for PS Plus in March. At the recent State of Play, Sony confirmed Big Walk would come to the service’s Essential Tier this year. It also confirmed that PS Plus Premium would get Tekken: Dark Resurrection (PSP) in March, which has also upset fans of that tier. Time Crisis is also coming to the service in May.

While the news is not particularly good, the trend continues: Essential and Premium won’t be the best, but PS Plus Extra has held the service up so far. It likely will in March, too.
