Halloween: The Game is a solid asymmetrical horror game that has gotten better with recent patches and balance changes. Now, developer Illfonic is getting ready to start releasing Halloween‘s first post-launch content, and it’s kicking things off with a new $10 Michael Myers skin based on how he looked in Halloween 5.

On October 5, Illfonic announced the first round of paid DLC and free content coming to its hit online horror game on October 27. The big news for fans of the slasher series is, of course, the addition of two new Michael Myers skins.

One skin will be directly based on how he looks in Halloween (2018), which I’m very excited about, as that’s my favorite version of the killer, behind only his original appearance in the first film. The other new Michael skin, however, is a bit of an odd choice. Illfonic is adding Michael’s Halloween 5 mask to the game. Each of these new looks will cost $10, which seems pretty pricey.

For many years now, Halloween 5′s mask has been criticized by fans for being too different compared to how he looked in previous films. The face looks longer and more defined, leading to a Michael that looks less scary and more weird. Some say Resurrection‘s mask, with eyebrows, is worse, but I still prefer it over the oddity that is Halloween 5‘s mask. But it makes sense that Illfonic would add this version of Michael later this month, as the studio is also adding a new map for free to Halloween: The Game, which is inspired by the farm seen in Halloween 5.

Besides a new free map and two paid Michael skins, Illfonic also announced a DLC civilian pack that will add two new playable survivors, Michelle and Eugene, to the game’s roster for $10. There will also be a Halloween (as in the holiday, not the movie) costume pack for civilians that will include 14 outfits, one for each character, and color variants for each outfit. That pack will cost $10.

While I’m excited to see Halloween: The Game expand, I’m not thrilled about some of these prices. $10 for a single skin seems really rough. Then again, we live in an era when Fortnite and other games charge $15 or more for a skin, so I guess this is just how things work now. That’s scarier than any Michael mask. But maybe not as scary as that CG Michael mask that popped up in Halloween: H20.
