Thanks to the release of Ghost of Tsushima‘s PC port and potential news of a God of War Ragnarok PC port, May 2024 is shaping up to be a particularly exciting time for PlayStation fans on Steam. Valve’s popular digital distribution platform, Steam is home to multiple high-profile, once-PlayStation exclusive games, and all signs point to even more being on the way in the very near future.

God of War Ragnarok Could Be Coming to Steam Soon

It seems as though God of War Ragnarok could be the next PlayStation exclusive game to release on PC. Sony has been bringing its exclusive games to PC in recent years, though typically only after the titles have already been available on PlayStation for some time. Some of PlayStation’s biggest exclusive games have made the jump to PC, including God of War Ragnarok‘s critically-acclaimed predecessor.

With the right permanent mount in the next God of War game, Kratos will spend less time traveling on foot and more time facing fantastic foes.

In 2022, Sony released the 2018 God of War game on PC. With the 2018 God of War game being a beloved, critically-acclaimed action-adventure, it unsurprisingly was a big hit on PC, helping the game reach new sales milestones. With the success of the 2018 God of War on PC, it was only a matter of time before the sequel made its way to PC, and now it seems that could be happening sooner rather than later.

According to a new report by Dealabs, God of War Ragnarok‘s PC port is going to be announced at some point this month. Unfortunately, Dealabs stopped short of providing a specific date for the God of War Ragnarok PC port announcement or when exactly the game will be added to Steam. It seems PC gamers will have to wait a bit longer to learn more about the God of War Ragnarok PC port, but it’s entirely possible more information will come as early as next week.

Rumors have been swirling that a PlayStation Showcase event is going to take place at some point next week. Nothing official has been announced by PlayStation, but multiple insiders have indicated that is the case. Video game companies typically hold their big E3-level events around this time of year, and so it’s certainly believable that Sony will be doing just that at some point this month. Such an event would provide the perfect opportunity to announce the God of War Ragnarok PC port and showcase all the PC-exclusive features it will bring to the table.

Based on past PlayStation PC ports, fans can count on the God of War Ragnarok port to provide exclusive graphics options and widescreen support. It’s also likely that the port will come with all the post-launch content, meaning fans should be able to play the Valhalla expansion at launch.

The potential announcement of a God of War Ragnarok PC port is a major reason for Steam users to be excited, but it’s certainly not the only thing they should be looking forward to. Next week, Ghost of Tsushima‘s PC port will be released, with the game set to launch on Thursday, May 16. Ghost of Tsushima‘s PC port will be the Director’s Cut version of the popular open world game, complete with the Iki Island expansion and all the other bells and whistles associated with it.

While Steam users are likely ecstatic to finally play the critically-acclaimed game on their platform of choice, there is one potential source of controversy when it comes to the Ghost of Tsushima PC port. Though the game is primarily known for its single-player experience, Ghost of Tsushima also has a multiplayer mode called Legends, which provides class-based co-op gameplay for users to engage with. Doing so requires linking one’s PlayStation Network account to their Steam account. The single-player experience will be available to everyone, but only those willing to link accounts can play co-op.

There was an uproar over Helldivers 2‘s PSN account linking requirement, and so it’s possible Ghost of Tsushima will find itself at the center of a similar controversy. Something working in Ghost of Tsushima‘s favor, however, is the fact that the PSN account linking requirement has been announced in advance. A big reason why Helldivers 2 faced such severe backlash from the community was because users were allowed to purchase the game and play for some time without linking the accounts. Having the requirement for co-op out of the gate should help Ghost of Tsushima avoid similar blowback.

Between Ghost of Tsushima‘s PC port and potential news about the God of War Ragnarok PC port, it’s clear that May 2024 is going to be big for PlayStation fans on Steam. Steam users can expect more PlayStation games to jump to PC in the future, in some rare cases even on the same day and date as their console counterpart, if Helldivers 2 is any indication.
