Digimon Story: Time Stranger will receive a major expansion sometime in 2027. Although the exact release timing for the upcoming DLC was not stated, publisher Bandai Namco confirmed that more content for Digimon Story: Time Stranger is currently in development and that fans can expect to see more digital monsters added to the game at that point.
Originally launched in October 2025, Digimon Story: Time Stranger is a turn-based JRPG that allows players to seek out various Digimon and uncover the mysteries of a collapsed world. Several fan-favorite critters, such as Agumon, Patamon, and Gabumon, make appearances throughout Time Stranger. Although Digimon Story: Time Stranger was initially launched for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam, the popular RPG will soon be headed to additional platforms. During the February 5 Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, it was confirmed that Digimon Story: Time Stranger will launch on Switch and Switch 2 on July 10. The Switch 2 version will include Performance and Quality graphics modes for players to pick from.

A Large-Scale Expansion for Digimon Story: Time Stranger Is in Development
Although three expansions are now available via Digimon Story: Time Stranger‘s Season Pass, more content will be on the way in the future. During the Digimon Con 2026 livestream, producer Ryosuke Hara revealed that Digimon Story: Time Stranger has a large-scale expansion DLC in active development. The Time Stranger expansion is currently targeting a 2027 release window, but its exact release timeline remains unknown. The news came just days after Digimon Story: Time Stranger launched the third episode pack of its Season Pass DLC, titled “Anti-ParadoX,” on March 11. The episode focuses on battles against various Mega Digimon that carry the X-Antibody, such as Gallantmon X and Omnimon X. The events of the new episode pack take place independently of Digimon Story: Time Stranger’s main story. Ergo, challenging these difficult DLC bosses after completing the game’s main story is highly recommended.

Hara also confirmed that Mutsumi Tamura, the Japanese voice actor for Aegiomon in Digimon Story: Time Stranger, would have a role to play in the upcoming expansion. However, both Tamura and Hara remained tight-lipped over what that could mean for the story of Time Stranger‘s large-scale DLC. Hara’s expansion update came shortly after the results of the 139th Digimon Referendum poll were revealed during the Digimon Con broadcast. The referendum asked Digimon fans which digital critters they would like to see in an active role in future Digimon games. 35 Digimon were listed for fans to pick from, and over 17,000 votes were cast in the referendum. Hara stated that they focused on listing candidates that played major roles in previous Digimon games, anime, and cards. The top 20 Digimon from the 139th Digimon Referendum are as follows:

The top spot in the 139th Digimon Referendum was taken by Gammamon, who appeared in Digimon Ghost Game. However, two Digimon that debuted in the current Digimon Beatbreak anime, Gekkomon and Chiropmon, cracked the top 20 of the referendum. Kazemon and Loweemon from the Digimon Frontier anime also made the list, with Kazemon taking third place. Although Hara said that not every Digimon listed in the 139th referendum was guaranteed to appear in Time Stranger‘s 2027 expansion, he stated that the development team would take the results into account when deciding which ones would make the cut.
Fans Can Pick Up Digimon Story: Time Stranger at a Discount
