Rhythm Heaven Groove, coming to the Switch this July, will have a starting price tag that is cheaper than most first-party Nintendo titles. Nintendo confirmed that Rhythm Heaven Groove will start out at $39.99, in both physical and digital formats, once it hits store shelves on July 2.
Rhythm Heaven Groove is the fifth installment of the Rhythm Heaven series, and the first title in the franchise to come out since Rhythm Heaven Megamix launched on Nintendo 3DS in 2015. Rhythm Heaven shares some characteristics with the WarioWare series, though the former is more musically inclined. In past Rhythm Heaven games, users navigated various challenges by tapping the controls to a beat. The soundtrack of Rhythm Heaven Groove is composed by series producer and composer Mitsuo “Tsunku” Terada.
Nintendo Switch Online Officially Adds 3 Certified Classic Games
Nintendo Switch Online adds three new games to the available catalog, all of which are certified classic titles.
Rhythm Heaven Groove Will Not Be An Expensive Game
One year after Rhythm Heaven Groove was revealed during a Nintendo Direct broadcast, fans looking to pick up the upcoming title will not have a high price to pay for it. Rhythm Heaven Groove is currently listed on the My Nintendo Store at $39.99, and the price applies to both physical and digital copies of the game. Pre-orders of Rhythm Heaven Groove are now available via the My Nintendo Store and Nintendo eShop, and players who pre-order the game digitally can preload it closer to the game’s launch. The $39.99 price tag stands in stark contrast to the costs of first-party Switch and Switch 2 games out there.
Some examples of high-priced Nintendo titles currently available are Mario Kart World at $79.99, and Pokemon Legends: Z-A, which ranges from $59.99 to $69.99. The price of Rhythm Heaven Groove was initially revealed on April 9, when Nintendo shadow-dropped information on social media about Rhythm Heaven Groove. Nintendo confirmed that Rhythm Heaven Groove would arrive on Thursday, July 2, in physical and digital formats. Digital downloads of Rhythm Heaven Groove will require an estimated 3.5 GB of available storage space, though the final amount will likely be revealed closer to launch. Ergo, Rhythm Heaven Groove will not require much space, or much money, for players to enjoy the upcoming experience.
Rhythm Heaven Groove is Part of Nintendo’s Price-Adjusting Efforts
The $39.99 price tag for Rhythm Heaven Groove may be a welcome sight for Nintendo fans looking to save some cash. Along with the low price of Rhythm Heaven Groove, Nintendo previously unveiled its plans to make first-party digital Switch 2 games cheaper than their physical counterparts. This change for first-party Switch 2 games will go into effect once Yoshi and the Mysterious Book launches on May 21. The upcoming Yoshi title will cost $59.99 digitally, and physical copies will be priced at $69.99. While this price rule may not necessarily apply to all first-party Nintendo games, it remains to be seen how effective Nintendo’s split pricing will be in driving sales.

However, players looking to pick up a new Switch 2 console to play various games may not have long to get the console at its current $449.99 price tag. With predictions about a potential Switch 2 price increase still lingering, time will tell when Nintendo will be faced with no choice but to adjust its prices.
