Call of Duty: Warzone developer Raven Software has finally added big map rotation to the free-to-play Battle Royale title, something fans of the shooter have been requesting for years. A new playlist update for Call of Duty: Warzone went live on Thursday, April 9, which not only sees the introduction of Avalon to the traditional Battle Royale experience but also implements a 10-minute rotation between Avalon and Verdansk.

Avalon is the latest map to be added to Call of Duty: Warzone, and while it made its debut as a new Battle Royale map this week, it was previously made available as part of the new Black Ops Royale game mode. As part of the Season 2 Reloaded update last month, Raven Software added the much-anticipated game mode, which takes heavy inspiration from Black Ops 4‘s Battle Royale, Blackout. Unlike the traditional Warzone experience, Black Ops Royale has no gulag, no buy stations, and most importantly, no loadouts. The back-to-basics approach takes place on Avalon, but those who enjoy the map and want to check it out on the standard Battle Royale can do just that.

Call of Duty: Warzone Update Adds Big Map Rotation

Just one week after the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Warzone Season 3, developer Raven Software has released a new playlist update for the Battle Royale title that finally adds big map rotation to the game. Players can now jump into either Avalon or Verdansk in the traditional Battle Royale experience, with a rotation between the two maps occurring every 10 minutes. The downside, however, is that only Quads matchmaking is currently available for Battle Royale, which means players will need to team up with randoms or squad up with some friends.

Aside from the addition of big map rotation, the latest playlist update also makes some other changes to the modes available to play for the next week. Black Ops Royale featuring Avalon remains available, now with Solos and Quads. Resurgence, which rotates between Haven’s Hollow and Rebirth Island, is available with Solos, Duos, and Quads. Launch Squad, the new limited-time game mode based on Verdansk’s newest POI, is available with Quads, and Ranked Play: Resurgence is available with Trios. For those who want a more laid-back experience, there are also Battle Royale Casual and Resurgence Casual, both of which are Quads only. It should also be noted that Battle Royale Casual is Verdansk only and does not feature the new big map rotation option.

Call of Duty: Warzone players also have a new event to check out: Lost Outpost. The event was initially due to kick off alongside yesterday’s playlist update, but ended up starting earlier than expected after a technical issue with the in-game store saw the release of the Strider 300 Sniper Rifle before the event began. The new weapon is one of the many in-game rewards that can be earned by players during the event. Simply collect Beacons from eliminated opponents, be it in Black Ops 7 or Warzone, and exchange them for various rewards during the Lost Outpost event.

For anyone who has been hesitant to return to Call of Duty will be pleased to know that Activision has continued to update its anti-cheat systems and has now made it even harder to cheat in Black Ops 7 Season 3. With the launch of the game’s newest season, which arrived just last week, Activision said it has expanded device detections, updated attestation messaging, and added new security measures to make it harder for bad actors to reach matches or affect other players’ accounts. Ricochet is also continuing to detect those who are using third-party devices such as Cronus Zen to gain an unfair advantage over other players by removing weapon recoil.
