Activision revealed a brand-new setting coming to Call of Duty: Warzone called the Operator Toggle, letting players essentially turn off what many call goofy skins. Cosmetics are one way Call of Duty: Warzone generates revenue and the many studios who continue to work on it over the years have introduced tons of options, some of which have become controversial in the eyes of many.
Operator skins and cosmetics have become a touchy subject with Call of Duty fans over the years, with many believing that the franchise has gone too far with crossovers and collaborations. In fact, this debate has prompted rival franchises like Battlefield to specifically announce cosmetic plans prior to a new game launching. From Bevis and Butthead to Nicky Minaj, Call of Duty has seen plenty of crossovers over the years, meaning many players have a closet full of operator skins to pick from. Despite continued outcry over the state of cosmetics, Activision is finally giving players a way to deal with them.
Call of Duty: Warzone Adds an Operator Toggle
In a new blog post, Activision revealed details on the Operator Toggle, which is planned to launch during Season 1 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. Acting as a sort of filter when enabled, the player will only see a Modern Warfare 4 operator skin for other players who may have equipped a cosmetic from a previous Call of Duty game. This filter includes teammates, enemy players, and squad mates in matches and while in the lobby. It’s worth noting that when it launches, the Operator Toggle is only going live for Call of Duty: Warzone. At this point in time, Activison hasn’t announced plans to expand the functionality to other parts of the game, such as multiplayer.
Alongside the operator toggle option, Activision also confirmed plans to bring back Call of Duty‘s Carry Forward feature. According to Activision, all weapons from Modern Warfare II through Black Ops 7 will continue to be available from the Legacy tab in Warzone, though Gunsmith and custom loadouts will not be supported. However, the game will feature a five-attachment version of each legacy base Weapon as well as legacy weapon blueprints with existing attachment setups. Similarly, Operators from Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, Black Ops 6, and Black Ops 7 will continue to be available in Call of Duty: Warzone when Season 1 arrives.
