When It Comes to the Free PS Plus Games for December 2025, Some Fans Are Getting Short-Changed

When It Comes to the Free PS Plus Games for December 2025, Some Fans Are Getting Short-Changed

The latest batch of free PlayStation Plus games are available to download now for December 2025, but certain subscribers have been left disappointed as select regions are only receiving three titles this month instead of the five that many other locations are being given. All three tiers of PlayStation Plus receive new games to add to their libraries each month, and while it usually includes only three titles, Sony is treating users this month with two additional freebies. Unfortunately, there do appear to be certain gamers who aren’t being given the same treatment.

On the first Tuesday of every month, PlayStation rolls out a new set of games for PS Plus Essential, Extra, and Premium subscribers. Some months are certainly better than others, but December was most definitely one to talk about as PlayStation decided to surprise users with five games instead of three. From now until January 6, subscribers can add LEGO Horizon Adventures, Killing Floor 3, The Outlast Trials, Synduality Echo of Ada, and Neon White to their libraries. Once redeemed, they will be available in a player’s library for as long as they are subscribed to PlayStation Plus. However, those who don’t add the games to their library before the next batch rolls around will miss out on this month’s games.

New monthly PlayStation Plus games! Sony is always adding new goodies to its subscription service across all three tiers. Here are ALL of them.

Some PlayStation Plus Subscribers Are Missing Free Games for December 2025

While many PlayStation Plus subscribers are now jumping into the likes of Killing Floor 3 and The Outlast Trials at no additional cost, some users have been left disappointed as they do not have the same selection of games. To be specific, it seems as though subscribers based in Japan only have access to LEGO Horizon Adventures, Neon White, and Synduality Echo of Ada. Unfortunately, Sony hasn’t provided a specific reason for the discrepancy, but it is likely due to the country’s laws and regulations. As both The Outlast Trials and Killing Floor 3 are particularly gory titles, their exclusion from Japan’s PlayStation Plus lineup may be related to some sort of censorship regulation. A Reddit user also noted how other regions are experiencing similar issues, as The Outlast Trials is banned in Saudi Arabia and Synduality Echo of Ada is unavailable in the Netherlands and Belgium due to online gambling regulations.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time that such an incident has happened. However, PlayStation has been known to substitute games in the past when certain titles are unavailable in specific regions. Back in January, PS Plus subscribers in Hong Kong found they had different games from the rest of the world. While most regions received Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered, and The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe, subscribers in Hong Kong had DEEEER Simulator: Your Average Everyday Deer Game, instead of The Stanley Parable. Sadly, it looks like users in Japan don’t have games substituted this month and are simply being forced to miss out on the two extra games for December.

The good news, however, is that anybody subscribed to PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium has another new game to look forward to on December 8, as Skate Story will be added to the service’s Game Catalog on day one. The third-person skateboarding game, developed by Sam Eng and published by Devolver Digital, will see players ollie, kickflip, and grind their way through the underworld as a demon who has been gifted a skateboard by the devil himself. If the player is able to skate to the moon, the devil will free the demon from their lifetime of suffering.

It’s always great when a new game comes to PS Plus on day one, but it’s not all good news this month, as even more games are set to be removed from the service in the coming days. On December 16, PS Plus will lose a total of twelve games, including some heavy hitters such as Battlefield 2042, Grand Theft Auto 3 – The Definitive Edition, and Sonic Frontiers. PS VR owners will also be disappointed to learn that 3 more VR games are being removed from PS Plus, which is becoming a concerning trend as the service continues to remove VR titles without adding the same quantity back the following month.
